[Warlock] Gildam Archmage Aether/Chaos Caster [V1.0.0.6 HC]

hey i’ve just started the game and this build is awesome really cool for the moment but i have a question during the leveling what should stat y need i don’t know how really choose my stuff i’m kinda lost like fire damage or lightning , aether damage if someone can help me .

thanks guys

Could you please explain, why OA is a big deal? I dont understand this.

btw: Hello to everyone and thx for this great forum

The higher OA you have vs monsters the more frequent you’ll crit. Critting often is important to dps and some devotion and item abilities can only proc on a crit.

With the Fabric of Reality buff should we consider investing more into it or you dont value flat chaos/aether damage that much in this build?

And is it imperative to invest into Elemental Balance aside from bonus points? Is high crit damage that important in this build?

And i’ve found Ectoplasm on rings kinda unnecessary since i’ve yet to go oom while playing this build and the set ability just insta restores mana to full.

Hi Zars,

Awesome build and very impressive Gladiator HC video - clear speed is truly amazing while still being so tanky.

Since i have an old battle mage using Clairvoyant, and i recently assembled Iskandras - wouldnt it be better fit for the build (that 20% phys resists…) + https://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/8888-Outcast's-Secret?

Also can you advice on a non HC build, using Hourglass perhaps?

Thanks!

Going to try this as my second toon. many thanks for the detail of this build and those who discussed it so I may understand it. I especially like the step by step devotion guide, where to put the points, when to remove, etc. , not just a picture of the constellation map which I have to puzzle out myself. many thanks.

Just hit lvl 68 and equiped all the stuff - i honestly feel Doom Bolt is so lackluster - there is no “omph” when you use it (the sound and GFX effects need to be updated to make it more flashy).

For a 5 sec CD skill nearly at the end of the tree its DMG is just meh…

Why not user Albrecht duality instead of Screams of the Aether - you get 80 OA and 50% Chaos > Aether conversion - that will put you nearly to 100% Aether with the conversion from the set?

On the set itself - Wrath of the Ascended seems to be the to-go to choice for aether dmg with its -Aether resist debuff.

Overall a bit disappointed, it looked much more fun in your movies

I guess when you play 7 Melee chars and switch to caster you get disappointed… GD as it is is really melee territory - rest just feels second hand no matter the gear.

Hello. Just a quick question here, how do you mange with the high energy cost early on? been having issues with my energy dropping like a stone during fights. Thank you

How are you managing 26% physical resists? With the setup you’re showing my friend and I only see a max of about 10% with high rolls. Were some of these items changed since this guide was made or are we missing something?

I assume that he had blood of Dreeg active at the moment of the screenshot, hence the 12-14% more (some % may depend on rolls regardless)

Is this build still viable? CT was nerfed some time ago as far as I know, but I don’t know with which patch that happend.

you might have already got ur reply else where… but this build is pretty much viable still…

So just wanted to check - I’m leveling this build and just had a few of the pieces, the rings, and I’m at 68 and the build is doing amazing. I don’t, however, have any items that convert aether to chaos.

My plan is just to take the occultist tree to the modifier for Blood of Dreeg and then fill out the arcanist tree a bit more until I get the shoulders (or another item?) that convert aether to chaos, otherwise I’d imagine that getting possession and removing Reckless Power would be pointless as I wouldn’t be utilizing the flat chaos from Possession, right?

So I would continue gearing to scale fire and aether until I have chaos conversion pieces, correct?

Thanks!

Hi, I’ve always wanted to make a Crucible viable warlock and I after seeing the videos I was very impressed with your build

I theory crafted a bit last night how to make this even stronger and I was wondering what your thoughts are on the following

Skill wise and gear wise this build is very similar: I dropped doombolt for a high investment in sigil of consumption (to be bound with wendigo mark) and devotion wise I went heavy eldrich picking up Wendigo, Abominable Might, Meteor from Ulzuin’s Torch, Okaine’s lantern, Behemoth, Soleael’s witchblade, Fiend, hawk, and spider. 1 point in blue and red cross roads and Eel to meet wendigo’s 6 point in blue requirement.

Skill wise I also added a point in bloody pox purely to have 1 more excellent proccing skill

This would in theory make the build have far more OA, Crit damage, and way more AOE and more % chaos damage and - chaos resist debuff over all
The question is can sigil of consumption buffed with wendigo mark offset the loss from not gettting scales of Ulcama Tree of life ect. Magi and fissure can also be worked into this by removing either Ulzuin’s Torch or Okaine’s Lantern.

My reasoning is that our main skills CT and devestation do more base fire damage than Aether damage which is converted 100% to chaos. Offensively we lose widow and it’s buff to Aether but we gain so much more chaos going in this direction

Anyone having suggestions for this build post AoM (apart from having mythical version of everything)?

I have a few, but it would result in a very different build.
There’s a Conduit that adds 50 chaos and 100% Aether to Chaos to CT. Then use Fire to Chaos gear to make a close to 100% Chaos CT. The problem is getting CT to 26/16 at the same time.

Do you really need to though? Getting as many + skills to CT is definitely a plus but it also scales with flat Chaos damage and there’s a metric ton from the following sources:

  • Fabric of Reality (w/ Black Flame Shoulders)
  • Solael’s Witchfire
  • Possession
  • Blood of Dreeg (w/ Darkblaze Source)
  • Second Rite (w/ a Bloodsworn Sceptre, Fang of Ch’thon might be better though)

If you don’t care about converting Physical damage away, Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange is another big one if you use the Blood Orb. It probably will be restrictive with gear if you push for as much conversion in as many areas as possible but you’d end up with a large amount of Chaos damage. Won’t be as strong as pure Aether CT (due to better itemisation) but still not bad. What Warlock lacks though is Chaos RR, you’d be relying entirely on gear/devotions for that.

Edit: Mixed up Aether to Chaos and Chaos to Aether

Well, probably. I hadn’t said that I actually tried that thing. And I would probably still try Sorc for Hellfire Mines.

But overall, good point ⑨.
