Care to elaborate?
Pirate Ship ARPG. It’s fun, but the mechanics are incredibly slanted against the player. -edit- Doh. Wayward. No Windward. That’s what I get for not paying attention.
Seems to be a “find yourself on deserted island, try to survive” game. Read some reviews, one mentioned that the difficulty was comparable to Nethack. That’s fun I guess, but not for me. Too frustrating.
It’s not nearly as difficult as Nethack; the bad reviews are really rather unfair. The devs are very friendly, active, and responsive; the mechanics are straightforward, and the monsters aren’t spongy. Try everything with your first character; you’ll prolly get into trouble and die. Make a new character and apply lessons learned.
It’s actually very easy and slow-paced if you go the benign route. Plant trees, get the island to like you, build up a nice stockpile of materials, set up a farm to sustain yourself indefinitely… and then, if you like, go all out and become a ravager of nature, provoking undead and krakens and drakes to come after you.
There’s a free browser version here but it’s many updates behind the Steam version, which is much better in terms of looks, mechanics, and item variety.
Tip: don’t try to build a house immediately; just sleep in the open and run or fight if something wakes you up. Building a base isn’t worth the bad karma until you know what you’re doing.
You’ll probably die, but if you aren’t a moron, you probably won’t die the same way twice. Wayward plays fair.
