It’d be a good idea if we could abandon a bounty for a faction, so we could pick up another at the table. I say it because it has not been only once that I’ve went searching for a mob (let’s say, Nalloth the Icy dude on Warden’s Cellar) and didn’t find him at all - even when exploring the whole place out. To avoid frustration, or simply for the sake of “Ah, I don’t want to do this bounty, let’s check another one”, we should be able to abandon a Bounty we already accepted.
If you already have a bounty for, let’s say, Devil’s Crossing, and try to pick up another one at the bounty table, all it says is “You already have a bounty for this faction” or something like that.
I agree with the idea of being allowed to drop a bounty. I am on the bounty of slaying Salazar and I can’t do it because I don’t have a special key to get into where he’s hiding. So I’m stuck with trying to farm a key, (a real time waster as I’m more than 20 levels higher than who I have to fight to get the key,) or never doing a bounty again. When I accepted the bounty it said nothing about needing a key. The only reason I even know what I have to do to find Salazar is because I looked it up on Wiki.
Ok, literally 2 minutes after posting that I agree that players should be allowed to drop bounties because I could not complete the bounty for killing Salazar because I did not have a special key, one dropped. I now wish for a pony! I also still wish players could drop bounties.
I think I suggested this two months ago, after my failed char failed to kill his mark Some people probably suggested it waaaaaay back.
I believe bounties could use a major overhaul.
A GUI where you can see all of the bounties available for the current playthrough.
Rewards explicitly listed - rep, exp, component, iron
Ability to pick more than one, so that players would be able to make chains.
Ability to cancel/swap bonties.
But the thing is, until bounties are given a more clear purpose in this game all of the QoL changes are wasted. Right now they only serve to bring rep to the cap, once you’re at it there’s zero reason to do bounties other than just for fun. If at the very least you would be able to know what kind of component you’re getting (not the cat-in-the-bag approach as it’s now), as well as trash tier components like Searing Ember etc excluded and somewhat rare ones like vengeful wraith added it would be a different case.
I disagree, on a story-based level! A bounty is a contract. You have to
fullfil it, or, if you like to withdraw, you should pay a severe penalty.
I would like to have a real bounty hunt, where the suspect is not only
hard to find, but tries to escape and attack in differnt ways, like at first
as a sniper, then with one ort two pistols and if necessary, with hand
to hand combat.
agree with OP too. it would just make things easier for the player, without making it less challenging (you can already chose the bounty you want to do anyway, why forced the player to stuck to it ?)
Agreed. If I had to count how many time I misclicked and took the wrong bounty while farming rep. And then you have to actually go and do that bounty before you can continue farming.
i took the quest of outcast to kill the last dude in the bastion of chaos
so…i need to go and clean area after area after area after map after map
with dozens of mobs and traps till i get there, run in circles, and usually somewhere till the end somehow he trap or stun me and one hit kill me.
i would go again, but used all my keys, so ectoplasm farming is add to this chain of area after area.
the problem is that i like to end the difficulty completely before going to next one. some kind of gamer perfectionism its like discovering every corner in the map before going to next one.
and this quest hold me so i tried again and again and again…
last time i died just said Fuc- it…lets w8 and see the next patch.
This is a very important feature especially when certain bounties are very dependent on the RNG (Tainted Brain Matter) or on drops from enemies way below your level (the Salazar example).
I have reputation progress on two of my factions on hold due to unattainable bounties or the need to reach areas way beyond currently unlocked areas.
A system where bounties can be abandoned (with, perhaps, a reputation penalty) is sorely needed.
I agree with all of this and would like to see some revered-only bounties that have better rewards as a sort of endgame-ish thing. Like instead of killing a hero that gets spawned, it’s a boss on par with Gutworm and gets you your choice of a set piece. Or something.
Also, having a rep penalty for abandoning a bounty is absolutely idiotic. Finding out you can’t do the bounty is penalty enough, and I really wonder about you people who think everyone should be as masochistic as you. Games are supposed to be fun, and finding out that not only can I not do a quest but I also get a kick in the balls for finding that out is not fun; it’s needless punishment.
