I do it only for craftable items and when i have all the mats ,i get the one with the perfect rolls from GDStash. Then remove the mats from my inventory. It is a small reward that i give it to myself for bad rng drop enemy loot. I dont do this for dropped loot.
THIS IS NOT A TOPIC ABOUT WHETHER SOMETHING IS CHEATING OR NOT! (Added this for some buzzkillers)
I’ll make anything in GDStash if I need it for my general toons. I can’t be bothered with crafting things or farming forever for something. For playtest I keep pretty much to self found though, only bringing in relics and some resistance components that aren’t easily found/crafted. Have started putting all my components into the shared stash the last few days though so that might solve that problem. May do the same with the relics I’ve used and kept after upgrading.
I don’t cheat, it defeats the purpose of playing for me. If an item I need won’t drop, I’ll usually give up after a while of farming and play another character from scratch. Fortunately, they are adding the complete set mechanic in FG expansion for me so I can still do that without cheating myself outside of the magic circle.
In diablo 2 (after years of playing) I once started duping runes in SP. Was fun for a while, until I gained access to everything in the game and it just got boring for me. Without the loot hunt, it’s just not the same. That’s when you realize the game is about the journey, not the destination.
I only use GD stash for crafting a rare item that I need if I can’t get one or if it’s hard to get this particular MI (rare MI, green). Eventually, if a particular item is a blueprint and I can’t get it, I spawn the blueprint.
That’s all I do, if I want to farm materials, I just run Ancient Grove because there are many enemies to kill, and if I feel like increasing the rate of drop, I use another program which name I forgot to increase monster spawn rate by mostly x10.
I give new toons a couple million irons just because I can’t be arsed teleporting back to town every 3rd pull just to vendor yellow trash. It’s single-handedly the most enjoyment-boosting thing I can do to this game, and it doesn’t really feel like cheating all that much.
Do whatever you want and can live with. If you feel bad, maybe don´t do it, whatever it is.
Guess the only naughty thing I do is taking a few hundred thousand iron bits from my Purifier and giving it to new toons. Since I am not conjuring iron bits out of thin air, it don´t bother me at all.
Considering that GD is made to be fully moddable so that you can play it however you want, I fail to see how any changes can be called “cheating”. Basically play how you want as it doesn’t affect anyone else’s game
I just remembered my days in D2 . Patch 1.07, HC ladder, dial-up, ping over 500, lags, drops, broken loot-tables,1-3 AM usual playtime
On 1.08 MF didn`t worked at all, even legendary items were legendary
IRC before 1.0.9 most ppl on HC ladder didnt even bothered with runes - runewods were retarded , droprates even more retarded, there was no recipes for runecrafting and no recipes for socketing.
With 1.10 come Bot plague - everyone wanted Enigma for chest, but even a bot needed at least 2 weaks of 24/7 countess runs to assemble it.
From all my time in D2 i only remember dropping one Ber and one Jah
BTW there was also a pack of trolls that said that the trackstand jerking was fun and healty for the game:D Oh, lol.
The motivation and reason behind this topic is very clear and if you look at the responds it is clear that people also succeeded at comprehending it unlike you;)
-Etram Bella Fald bonuses on all possible legendaries/ items and/or other smith bonuses depending on build needs
-best double rare green MI’s possible with best possible valid rolls
-creating lvl 100 characters and churning builds like crazy. i have about 50 characters right now all min maxed to the best possible to my knowledge
-all augments stored arranged properly in shared stash in 999+quantities
all materials and components in shared stash in 999+ quantities
all quest items in shared stashes in 999+ quantities
moving to and fro characters in softcore to hardcore and vice versa
renaming characters to get the best names possible appropriate to the builds as far as my knowledge is concerned
maxing faction reputation
sometimes i don’t use these cheats and just lvl up but it all depends cauze i feel happy and satisfied if i use these cheats and it saves me time to get to end game and see build in max potential
Save my loot to GDStash and sell what I don’t need.
I also use GDS to equip toons w/ what I got meaning there are duplicates of found items equipped, but since it’s just QoL saving some time wouldn’t call it cheating.
What I would call cheating was to clone my godly bugarm I got after dozens of farmings into Royal Hive.
A long time ago, when the max level was I think 50 (probably still alpha), Crate changed mortar trap and thermite mines so they didn’t scale with pet bonuses anymore. Since I really wanted to play a pet build, and I got attached to that first char, I used a trainer to reset a Pyromancer to Conjurer.
The other “cheat” I used twice was to back up a high level character before resetting devotions/skill points, so I could easily revert them back if necessary. It was necessary.
I guess the point is - it’s all in one’s head. If I gave myself a single item or even gold from GDStash or from trading, enjoying the game would be over for me, while the exploits I mentioned (or whatever you want to call them) don’t bother me at all. Why - who knows
My brother and I both play GD, and when he gave up on soft core he gave me bits/ crafting materials that he wasn’t going to use.
These gifts aside, I try and play legitimately. My view is that being able to spontaneously conjure good rolls or items completely undermines the joy of seeing a desired item dropping, and it also robs the “fun” in making good trades online or seeing a person post an item that you need.
That said, vendoring items again and again to fund absurdly over priced re-speccing costs can absolutely get tedious, so I find it very difficult to blame anyone who would want to acquire iron bits through other means.
I don’t cheat much in GD. Here is the stuff I have done:
1- I duplicated 2 (maybe 4) partial Kilrian’s Shattered Soul, because all my chars get to nemesis with undead by farming that guy and the drop rate should be 100%.
2- I duplicate relics that more than 1 char uses, so I don’t have to keep transferring them through the shared stash. But when that char is done with the relic, I drop the cloned one on the floor so I don’t accidentally use it for crafting.
3- I changed the completion bonus of a mythical relic once and will do it again if needed. Mythical relics require a lot of farming to craft, so random completion bonus are ridiculous.
I haven’t played mods yet, but some mods are equivalent to cheating too.
