What aspects of GD do you like/dislike over other existing popular ARPG

I am just curious to know everyone’s opinions. What aspects/features of Grim Dawn do you guys like/dislike over other available ARPG such as Path of Exile, Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Diablo 2, Van Helsing etc.

Of course… building potential and the amount of different approaches to it. That’s the most attractive GD design, I think.

I also personally like lore and story. While most ARPGs have simple and linear story, GD tries to enrich it with small interesting details AND characters. It’s one of the main reasons I keep playing AND HOPE it’s story will have a satisfying conclusion.

its worth noticing that GD and PoE are the only games with active devs.

GD is definetely the game where the forum has the biggest signatures

What do you mean?

D3 is still supported, as much as I hate the game and the people behind it. They’re still “supporting” it with crap. But hey, atleast their crap is free

GD leveling best there is. (have had so many avatars)
POE 10 leveling levels change makes it great.

Game engine for POE absolutly sucks. the stutter and movement there is just, bad. a constant issue.
GD movement is perfect no stuttering and predictable damage for most part.
poe damage is like throwing a dwarf into lava and hope it does not kill him.

poe content is 99% worthless drops.
GD content makes a lot more sense with its variation

D3 crap totally.
Poe has closed the gap towards D3 due to more money with faster and streamlined gear to sell.

I enjoy the pace with GD, game engine is great considering the age but it flows and the new tweak dx11 will help to arise it a bit, leveling is fast once you have some experience and gear to put in from stash.

Multiplayer could use some love for faster handshakes with Grim dawn.
when someone joins the whole screen get stuck.
I find MP with GD is a lot more fun that poe or d3.

Pretty sure PoE signatures are bigger. Or do supporter pack listings not count?

D3 is not an ARPG any more.

I like the lore, the physics/ragdoll, the build development variety (replayability), the content, the rotatable camera, day/night cycle and the unique classes.

Also will like the gear much more once illusionist is available

What i hate? Running through the entire game 3x. Path of Exile made the right choice with the 10 Acts and a scalling difficulty.

What i love? Everything else! The looks, the atmosphere, the Lore, the Characters, the Skills and how they feel (Right now iam playing a Vitality DoT Spammer with BLoody Pox and Devouring Swarm :stuck_out_tongue: ) and most of all i freaking love the Monster design… they all look amazing (i only dislike the Rift Hounds (?) that green doggyish things).

Did you know that the most detailed and meticulously designed part of all the monsters is their butts?

Her voice is pretty fucking sweet as well in case anyone missed the streams

Love: the drops, the difficulty, the build variety, the atmosphere, the story, the crafting. the artwork.

Hate: really, really, really slow initial leveling speed and drab beginning area. bank inventory management and space. Not being able to xfer rare craft items between toons (being changed, thankfully)

personally what impress me the most in GD is the balance between classes, items,… It isn’t perfect but it’s as close as it can get i guess. The droprate is great too, the mechanisms behind the game are really solid (with the only exception of attributes). I love the things devs added since release (Hidden Path, Valbury, awesome legendary sets).

I don’t like the storage space (will soon be better but still not enough maybe).

offline mode

Blizzard’s reaction to this

What i hate? Running through the entire game 3x. Path of Exile made the right choice with the 10 Acts and a scalling difficulty.

LoL, these extra acts look the same as previos with minor difference in map colors. You still kill most boses 3 times >_>

Running through Act 2 3x in a row was too much for my Sanity. And you only fight the ungodly Trio 3 (4 cough) Times :stuck_out_tongue: and ofc Shittava twice

The only thing that bothers me about Grim Dawn is the lack of map overlay. There is the minimap and the Map screen, but what I’d like is a transparent overlay like you can find in the Diablo games and Titan Quest. It’s a big quality of life feature to me.

Besides that Grim Dawn is a fantastic game.

Medierra made a post on how they will never make this.

Dislike: The loot system. The entire game is one singular slot machine (kinda like D3, as I understand it) whereas things like D2 or PoE are multiple, more specific slot machines.

Like: Everything else.

Definitely this. Wouldn’t be playing if it was online only from the beginning :p.

The fact the developers try and balance or at least make every skill viable in some fashion is also nice. The only other ARPG I’ve played is Torchlight 2 and there were several useless skills/passives for every class.

dislike: wasting my life on GD

Can you please elaborate on this?
