I love the different builds out there, but I was wondering what peoples opinions were on the build that has the highest survivability AND the highest DPS? Ive seen some tank builds that were pretty much indestructible, but they had no DPS whatsoever, and ive seen insane DPS builds that were squichy as all get out. I havent really been able to come up with a build (especially when leveling up and not having the gear that a lot of builds need to work) that is able to really balance these extremes.
Pure Physical Commando, in 1.0.0.6~.7, is the epitome of this.
In 1.0.0.8 and 1.0.0.9 the Spellbreaker is DPS-tastic enough that they might as well be practicing Wing Chun of the Jedi.
They are what Nerf-Marked Blademasters were… almost.
1.0.0.9 Commando is pretty legit again, too.
I don’t think anything has killed my Edge running S&B Phys Commando since nodding off during 1.0.0.7.
Well, you cant have both at the same time, cause that would mean game is too poorly balanced. But i bet, Cadence 1-h+shield Witchblade has the best combination of DPS and surviveability… Or Commando, quite the same build anyway…
I think you should open it up a bit more whether you want a Crucible or Normal character since not many things pose a great challange in Ultimate game. If you are interested in Gladiator Crucible character that has both damage and survivability thats different.
Non Crucible i’d say Cadence Witchblade, Shield + Sword Commando, Cold Spellbreaker with insane damage that kills stuff too fast to exchange some hits.
Haven’t really followed latest Crucible builds but Chaos/Aether CT Warlock, DEE Witchblade, Stun Jack Elementalist would be my choices.
. if u have one such build that achieves such feat, then keep it to urself… otherwise if revealed xpect a nerf hammer hit or two. Thats how it should be at least to Crate’s philosophy…
commandos and wb comes to mind though if u want the closest ones… though i personally prefer elementalists and sorcs cuz they can still be both tanky and be damage dealers at the same time when geared to the full capacity
You say it as if Commando/WB deal lackluster DPS… they dont…
They can’t compete in killtimes in Vanilla though.
no i dont mean that at all… in fact they do a ton of damage… but if we’re talking SB levels of dps then thats another story…
Most geared out dw builds kill stuff faster than geared out S&B builds in Vanilla.
Leaving out casters, my dw WH or my dw Saboteur are much faster in terms of grinding MIs or Nemesis than my S&B Witchblade or Commando.
Would be happy to see your Saboteur build.
DW warborn BM is pretty fun, too. 10-11k hps on my build and these dont bungie jump that much. You can facetank every nemesis or boss in the game except Modragon with this setup. Slightly slower than Jägermeister`s wh, and I also finished cruc glad several times.
- dw (my love)
- dummy 50-65s depending on your setup
- 0 deaths in vanilla including ultimate queen, warden, Port Valbury
- can complete cruc glad extra spawn, but for this i prefer wh shield a lot more
- absolutely relaxing to play. Sometimes I just SOT run to clear it all for fun, mobs drop everywhere you arrive.
- With fumble potion most bosses wont even succeed in hitting you more than once or twice before they die. But can facetank as mentioned above. Queen needs some good timed healing if she has a nasty day because you wont kill her in 4s but maybe 10-15s. Valbury endboss requires some attention, too. Reflect can be a bitch, but for that:
- Mark of divinity if you didnt pay attention bc of making a call, gf around, the queen had a bad day or whatever Its part of my setup, simply love it.
Its my best allrounder with still decent damage.
Shielded WH for pure ownage.
I never played a class that was that much op. Can facetank everything in glad extraspawn except queen if she turns red or the warden/guardians if you dont kill them fast enough. success rate 100% on my side, never died. All resists 30-55% overcap makes resist debuffs a joke. Can kill a lot faster with more offensive setup but it is a lot squishier, too! Can kill extraspawn in 22 minutes then. Vanilla should be boring on this character nearly as fast as my BM.
