Most often (every) playthrough I have befriended Anasteria. What character would it be fitting or benefitial to kill Anasteria?
Cap your Aether and Fire resistances. She halves all resistances for 5 seconds, so there’s no character that can “easily beat her”, because literally any character can. Just remember to overcap your resists by at least 40% (so you’ll have 60% resists vs. her) or just get some damage reduction/absorption. She actually isn’t that hard to beat. Killed her few times on Ultimate with only 80 - 90% aether resist (included overcap, I often have at least 40% elemental resist overcap).
If I understand OPs question correctly, he is not asking how to kill her, but more like when to befriend her and when to kill her. The answer is that there is no reason to kill her unless you need her purple helmet, which is fantastic for Devastation builds, but the helmet has ridiculous drop chance (according to Grimtools its 6%, which is total nonsense, expect 300 runs to get that, its definitely less than 0.5 %).
Hmmm my question is kind of a number of things such as what build could kill her and also what build would benefit from killing her such as the helmet.
But the main reason I want to kill her is just to see the content. Like see the dialogue and the fight and the dungeon. So it’s more a content thing and I might try it in all difficulties but normal first.
So I might create a new character with the intention of doing the kill anasteria content with that character. Just to see it. Being able to complete the fight is necessary to see content and it would be an added bonus to get/use the helmet but could transfer to another character with stash if needed.
Are you sure the helmet drop chance is still bugged? I recall getting the drop after 3 tries not long ago. Maybe I was supremely lucky or maybe it was fixed at some point?
As for killing her, you might want to kill her on a different class than the aether caster build that wants the helmet otherwise it is a bit painful (especially if you only have aether and fire res overcapped by small amounts).
In terms of builds: she was relatively easy for my pet build (occultist/shaman) on both normal (veteran) and elite. I didn’t even need to kite for her. Maybe I just got lucky. I chose to befriend her with my gunslinger.
So that’s an option, I suppose. But you can also watch some YouTube videos of people taking her on to get a sense of what works well.
My Cabalist summoner has no real need for her items or augments, so I chose not to befriend her and try and get those helmets for my Aether damage build I plan to do. But even though I am close to Nemesis with her on Elite already, not even the blue helmets dropped… She goes down pretty easily btw, my minions simply wear her down before she could target me.
Otherwise, most my other builds befriended her 'cause it is the right thing to do, same as telling Ulgrim about Devil’s Crossing, and such.
If the sole purpose of your character is to kill her/it, then I´recommend something with great burst dmg potential. That´s pretty much it. She ain´t so tough. Hell, build a character that needs her augments etc. doesn´t matter, befriend her on the first 2 playthroughs, kill her on Ultimate, stock up on her stuff before. Your char doesn´t have to be needing her drops at all, they are not soulbound, so it doesn´t matter.
Farming her is very tedious though, be warned! ^^
Yeah, I did more runs than I could remember and nothing ever dropped from those helmets.
Thanks everyone. Sounds like she is a challenge. If the character had a backstory in mind would he mistrust Anasteria as another Aetherial?
