What character file option indicates a character is single player (offline only )or multiplayer (online) capable?

Pretty much as the title states. Is there a flag in the character file that indicates if a character is one or the other. As I understand it you can’t take a single player character online since this can be modded to the hilt. There must be a parameter that indicates this ? If not in the character file perhaps another editable file ?

Pretty sure as long as you’re not playing a mod that has stuff that isn’t included in the official game there is not ‘flag’ like this. I play GD with just base, AoM and Forgotten Gods. I play multiplayer and single player with all my characters. Now the few times I’ve tried a mod out (like Grimarilion) THAT character can only be played with the Grimarilion mod, but you can also play both solo and multiplayer, as long as the multipler folks are also running Grimarillion.)

Ah - ok. That makes sense. I looked at the file and could not see anything obvious.
Was trying to connect to a game someone on steam was hosting. Could see the game but not connect to it. Could be lots of reasons for that but I thought maybe it was because all my characters have only been offline mode characters.

To more specifically clarify, no, there is no such thing as an “offline character” or an “online character.” There are no such flags and no matter how much you may mod your equipment/skills, you can still play online (though for more expansive mods (game/world-altering), both client and host will need the same modifications).

Weeeell, technically there is such a concept when it comes to mod characters and main campaign characters…

… there is some kinda “flag” happening in the save files that needs to be “flipped” if you wanna punt them back and forth between the two.

But otherwise, yea, no “flags” when it comes to if you can play multiplayer or not.
