What counts as Elemental Damage?

Fairly new player here. As the title asks, what counts as Elemental Damage? My guess is fire, cold, lightning. What about acid?

Only fire, cold and lightning.

Thanks alot.

One very important thing to be aware of with Elemental damage is the vast difference between +Elemental damage and +% Elemental damage.

  • Elemental - Splits the amount equally between the 3 Elemental damage types. So +9 Elemental damage will give you +3 Fire, +3 Lightning and +3 Cold

+% Elemental - Gives the full +% to each damage type, so +9% Elemental give you +9% Fire, +9% Lightening and +9% Cold

Also worth mentioning is the fact that the flat Elemental damage only applies to attacks/skills that have a Weapon Damage (WD) component to them. And that the flat damage will be modified by whatever the % WD is; 100 Elemental damage on a skill with 10% WD will give you 10 Elemental damage added. Whereas, % Elemental damage is applied globally to all sources of Elemental damage unless otherwise stated.

However, if a gear or skill modifier gives flat/% Elemental damage to a skill (e.g. “35 Chaos Damage to Fire Strike” on the Darkblaze Helm) then it will ONLY apply to that skill.
