What do you guys think the 8th Mastery will be?

We’re finally getting an Inquisitor Mastery and it will have range support- which i hope includes WPS for both DW and 2handers allowing us to use something else than Plunderer’s Talisman and Marauder’s Ammo Belt.

Now since the recent Misadventure has confirmed one mastery. What do you guys think the 8th one will be?

The options are based on the recent GD Misadventure line that says we have met both classes during our adventures.

Options are:-

1. Necromancer-

The Order of Death Vigil’s Neophyte or the Dread Lord might be the actual class name but we’ll refer it with the term we’re familiar with- Necromancer
There has been lot of talk on the forums regarding this one.

Many posts (from earlier days) indicate they do plan to make one and it won’t be your conventional necromancer.

It might introduce Cold/Vitality synergies, some more Cold support (Amatok knows we could use some), Vitality Decay sources and add alternate sources of Aether Damage (their rituals use Aether) and finally skeletons. Motherf***ing skeletons that fill the screen and decimate everything in their path.

2. First Blade of the Emperor-

In the first poll i named it “The Disciple of the First Blade”. I know there has been a lot of talk saying he (Ulgrim) is just an overpowered Nightblade/Blademaster (with 2 Honed Conquerors). But i feel we shouldn’t leave this out of the cards.

EDIT:- Voting for this one is pointless because-

3. Shield Maiden (Dual-Wield Shields)-
I never added this in the last poll, but the comments in that thread indicated many did like this idea. It presents an interesting idea of using Shield as a weapon. Since Myrmidon Set’s Shield Strike sucks.

Although we haven’t met anyone during our adventures who uses Shields in such a way.

4. Combat Medic-
If anyone has fought alongside the Black Legion are aware they use some existing class combinations in their ranks Battlemage and Spellbreaker.

Combat Medic has the strongest defensive aura in the game that shoots up your OA, Total Damage and HP regen by several times. A combat medic would acutally be a unique addition and we might actually get to use that useless Apothecary Set.

5. Spirit Guide-
I know this seems like an unusual choice, but seeing how we’re dealing with arcane forces a Spirit Guide might be a nice addition.

Usage of traps is limited in this game and this mastery might make traps a primary damage skill.

6. Former Bloodsworn-
This is option is purely based on this interesting piece of lore i found.

While on surface an Occultist is already there so a Bloodsworn doesn’t seem to fit. But we could have better sources of Vitality and Vitality decay. Summoning Harbringers, Tyrants or maybe an Unraveler. Adding new ways to reduce Chaos resistance.

There is not a mastery that give +5 cunning per level now in game - I think it is a clue.

Well at the risk of repeating myself i still desperately want

Shield Mastery

Crate has already said they want to do one, so i am sure they have plenty of ideas ready to go for it.

It doesn’t have to be Dual-Wield Shields, just a class with more then a handful of shield skills.

Shield Maiden… just because I’ve been pushing dual shields on this forum since I very first joined it. Not gunna happen (at least not in the 1st expansion) but meh, toot, toot!

Pick Dual shields you GD bums and let em know what’s good!

combat medic ftw…

the necro will be released on the second expansion at the same time d3 releases their own mediocre version

Could be from Kymon’s faction as well

Former bloodsworn i think it’s kinda covered by Occult

My two cents:

Don’t Kymon use Soldiers and Commandos?

There was a thread here about abilities that kymon had especially those Dw maidens. Looks like the fire version of Storm/Star Pact. That is what i was thinking of.

I also remember an old thread about the devs considering shield mastery (could remember wrong). So maybe something that imbues shields with all sorts of stuff just like the inquisitor. I would like that very very much

Edit: What Ward said

Probably a Priest/Templar of Menhir class? Healer and centered around wielding shields (your choice of combat medic).
That Spirit Guide choice makes sense as a sort of a necromancer-ish alternative, as a pure necromancer is most likely not going to happen (or it can happen, but that should disable chosing a faction at act3 if it’s meant to follow the story progression).

Priest sounds nice, i honestly just want that CM aura. I don’t care if they decide to not call it the Combat Medic.

Kymon are kinda full of shit so it wouldn’t be beyond them to accept a former Necromancer.

Also i find it troublesome that people think class-combo would impact the story, this isn’t Diablo II where you approach Gheed as a Necromancer and his greedy little smirk gets wiped off. Although with the addition of the Inquisitor i honestly do hope class selection impacts dialogues.

Damage-type wise the only underused one is Aether, which is pretty much limited to Arcanist. But I won’t bet a single piece of scrap on this logic, because it’s not like we have a shortage of elemental damage in the game, yet Inquisitor was revealed to be an elemental gun-mage.

Before I predicted the next class to be a necrogunner: DW guns, aether, cold, vit. decay, pets. Now I don’t have a clue, lol. High probability is: shield procs, aether, pets, ranged pierce. Another high probability is it will be an imperial faction that conflicts with inquisitors lore-wise, similar to DV vs Kymon, so I dunno, Alchemist maybe?

Huh? /10cars

What? That’s just a fair guess. Since it’s highly probable that new expansion will move us from provinces to the center of empire where main forces of aetherials are present, it’s highly probable that another new class will have something to do with imperial forces as well. Because it’s so cliche.

But yet again - Crate are known to surprise us. Might turn out the new class is a voodoo pigmy from far south, lol.

That was actually quite funny:D

And i hope create does exactly that and surprise us.

Lol /20chars

I kinda missed that Crate gave us a hint. Stupid me.

Weeeeeell, I see you are slightly amused by my voodoo pigmy joke, even though it’s exactly what one gamedev company did when they needed a character with a skillset that just screams “necromancer”, but wanted to try being creative. Ugh… can’t remember the company’s name… was it Tempest? Blizzard? Nah… Anyway, just so happens that GD has a spot for a class that just screams “necromancer” as well. But if calling necromancer a necromancer is dull, then maybe it’s a Witch?

Don’t know man, might have heard about Tempest, but Blizzard honestly doesn’t ring a bell. Do they make adult RPGs or something?

As I said on the Grim Misadventures topic, I believe it’s a shield mastery (not a dual shield, so no shield maiden).

I’ve searched the black legion ranks, they have myrmidons, footmen and captains as shield wearers. Myrmidons and footmen are white-named so they are probably too weak to make a mastery around. Captain seems like the mastery for the expansion, especially with some aether damage to solve the shortage of aether damage sources; they could have studied the Gildam Arcanum or got some power directly from the aetherials since they like making deals with high ranked people. The problem is: captain is too generic/boring for a mastery name.:undecided:

Combat medic would be fun, but it wouldn’t solve the shortage of aether damage and shield skills (only 1 mastery for each).

Blood Mage, a balancing nightmare

I feel atleast one of the new mastery will have a pet
