What do you guys think the 8th Mastery will be?

I know actual shapeshifting would require a lot of work. But we have Karroz who “transforms” into an Unraveler. He’s the only one in the game who does that but still if it’s possible then we could have something like this as an exclusive skill right? I mean can’t the same “exploding” animation be used for transforming into “whatever you want” and then transforming back to your original form.

Karroz doesn’t use a skill, and he isn’t the only one in the game who has multiple forms.

In his case what occurs is his character ‘dies’ and a new monstrosity takes his place. It’s the same situation with other creatures that ‘respawn’ such as Gilstein the Reborn, I think is his name. They are not actually transforming or whatever on death but rather just spawning a whole new creature.

It’s not a skill, and it’s not something that works for players.

Possession used to make your character bigger, just like Colossus Form in TQ. But that probably caused a lot of issues with hitboxes and doorways and such.

So I think it’s technically possible but whatever form you take will remain human-sized.

Hmm can’t they use this mechanic as a skill where the character’s value are fed to the game as dead? And then “revive” it on the spot in the new form? Causing it to effectively transform?

EDIT: Sorry what i was suggesting would be a balancing nightmare

It’d be cool if they could bring it back in some way. I mean they could make it temporary. I don’t think players would mind adjusting their playstyle (like avoiding narrow passageways, doors and stuff) if they get something like this.

Voted other, but that other could be a “Necromancer” mastery as well, albeit different from your average Necromancer.

I’m hoping for this mastery to be more Aether centered. It would be fun if this mastery would allow you summon an Aetherial Wisp to aid in battle.

Actually i am supremely confident that crate would make its own version of Necromancer, rather than Cut, Copy, Paste Diablo 2’s version.

My take on it is that apart from summoning, it’d bring cold damage, vitality decay, vitality damage and aether damage. It’d help improve cold vitality synergies.

Another class, not likely this will be added with this expansion, but one I’d like to see is a beastmaster. I think it would work really well with the way the game plays now. Would obviously have summons (probably player stat scaled, rather than pet stat), but could also have skills for crossbows and open up avenues to add composite bows and spears as weapon types. I really hope this is added in a future expansion (if we get more than one), would be awesome!

Dominatrix … whips, chains and codpieces all the way.

8th class?

why not zoidberg?

stormcaller your sig is almost perfect for that post lol

At this point I’m like 75% sure it’s the Necromancer and 25% sure it’s going to be something else, just so Crate can troll us by saving the Necro for another expansion pack (but that would kind of ensure they’d make a second xpac, so I’m cool either way)

I still got my money on a Priest because a Necromancer is just someone who raises dead people. However i could also see a Priest doing Necromancing.

So when the Giant Form was mentioned in this thread i noticed the Warden, Igor the Eternal and Moosilauke. They operate on the same giant form logic right? Can’t we add something like that for the Player Character. Just curious

Possession used to do that.

…Personally I thought it looked dumb. :T

most of all veryatnost that it will be or

  1. First blade of an imerator 2.
The witch like Anasteriya. That is witch of efirial.

veryatnost the imerator is efirial, do you read my mind bro?

Hmm. I hope they add it to the game.

Since DW pistols was also a kickstarter stretch goal it was only implemented through items. And yet the support it got spawned a new mastery (or maybe they wanted to do one always, i don’t know).

Maybe Giant form could be added through some item and they can judge how it works for the game through the feedback of playerbase.
This seems like a nice solution as adding it to a class would require them to pay constant attention to keep it relevant. But for an item it’d be rather simply imo. Should anyone want to use it then they’re free to do so. And if someone doesn’t then no one is forcing them.
I mean we already do have one shit legendary in the game with the most useless granted skill (Herald of the Apocalypse). Very few use it, so if anyone likes Giant form then they can use it through items

My first guess is Scout, like Mornay and Elsa.
My second guess is some sort of a battlemage who is specialized in using off-hands and melee combat. As for now there are some combinations of classes which can use an off-hand but none is really specialized in it. If I am not mistaken, there is only one skill requiring off-hand(Arcanist’s Devastation) and one Devotion(Lantern) providing bonuses when wielding a caster’s off-hand. Outcast?
My third guess(and the greatest hope and desire) is a class which can use a shield as a weapon. Warden, maybe?
Actually, there might be something combining my second and third guesses - a class which is dependent on whatever there is in your left-hand. If it’s a shield than you have some passive skills allowing you to use it for attacking(like the Nightblade and Defense in TQ). If you are holding an off-hand than you get some casting buffs. If you are using melee or ranged dual-wield than you get some offensive bonuses.

I don’t think a Necro would be nice because of all the lore inconsistency. Also, we already have 2 summoner classes. But, despite those things, a necromancer is probably the only ‘class’ we’ve already encountered in the game, besides the Inquisitor. Maybe one of the Legion’s ranks, like Vanguard or Deathmark, but those are really in the background, just like all the other possibilities.

Edit: Imagine some kind of Alchemist. Throwing acid potions, aether bombs, creating some kind of homunculus (pet) which would evolve with some of your skills. Maybe he could make weaker health potions with some ingredients. That would be nice, I think.
