What does this mean on Crop Summary?

What do the numbers in Estimated Yearly Yield mean? in my example, 446 of what out of 506 what?

Damn, Nurgle’s going all out on your fields :stuck_out_tongue:

Right? That’s not the worst… just got hit with a plague of cholera :frowning: Lost over 100 villagers … the rest are pooping in the streets while looking for a McDonald’s with a clean bathroom

I believe that’s just the actual amount of the crop you planted that you’re expected to receive, based on the fertility etc. of the field. So if that field was Peas for example, you’re expected to harvest about 446 Peas in it’s current condition, out of a potential high of 506. (As in, if you’re field was at peak 100% conditions (i.e. if the fertility was 100%, and all the rocks were removed and you had the right soil composition etc), then you would be expected to get about 506 Peas out of this field - if that makes sense? :stuck_out_tongue:

Falsted, that’s not it. Across 138 fields (all 5x5) I plant thousands of different veggies (peas, turnips. cabbage), and other fields with mostly flax or grain. The harvests run in the thousands of units, and 446 is less than I harvest from a single field.

It makes no sense for it to be an average either. If it’s 446 crops out of an average of 506 planted … on what size field? A generic per field average doesn’t work, because fields can be different sizes (mine are all the same but they don’t have to be). If it’s per individual field tile then these numbers are way too high compared to my actuals. Not to mention the yearly yield also depends on what crops are in the active rotation that are active in any year.

There’s just no explanation of what those numbers are for and I can’t correlate them to any of my actual harvest numbers. So can anyone explain what’s 446 and 506?

It may help if you showed the rest of the window?
Just because I’m not opening up the game til the next patch :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: I’m wondering if you have a certain crop, or a certain crop on a certain field, selected, and this is telling you about that particular crop

It’s the crop summary and there’s no further information in the heading. The rest of the window is a scrollable list of all the fields. This is the current window, the numbers have changed. I selected nothing, this is how it comes up. Notice how the first number is now higher than the second one 356/322 so it’s even more confusing as to what they represent.

It seems it’s showing one of the crops, probably either currently planted or next to be planted. You get a higher second number on a field you select when your net bonus from lowered rocks & weeds, and higher fertility, is calculated by the game as a net positive.

See if you get the same number in the Next Crop section when you select whichever field Crop Field #1 is

I give up. Whatever it’s supposed to mean, it’s got to be broken. I loaded my game and paused it. That yield is at 356/322 like my last post. Nothing was selected, just clicked on the town center and the side button for crop summary. I expanded the first crop field, all it does is allow you to change the rotations. The yield numbers stayed the same.

I accidentally closed the window so I opened it again. Game still paused. Magically the numbers changed to this:

That’s interesting. So I closed and reopened the crop summary again and the numbers jumped to 1272/1018. With the game still paused I kept doing that: close, open, don’t click on anything. They got higher each time, and I calculated by how much to see if there was a pattern:
1739/1403 increased by 467/385
2186/1725 increased by 447/322
2608/2047 increased by 422/322
3112/2415 increased by 504/368
3565/2737 increased by 453/322
4117/3105 increased by 552/368
4774/3523 increased by 657/418
5311/4029 increased by 537/506
I stopped at this point. It’s obvious the numbers will just keep increasing simply because the window is closed and opened again. There’s no pattern to how much they change. For now I believe whatever Estimated Yearly Yield is supposed to be, the calculation is incorrect and the numbers are meaningless. Obviously this was intended to convey some useful information, I wish I knew what. Hopefully a developer can shed some light on this.

That made my day, thanks for the laugh!

Interesting observation.

I tried to dive a little into this matter: I selected one individual field and checked the satistics/calculation info. The harvest was still ongoing and the numbers for the actual yield kept increasing, stopping once the harvest was completed. This, at least, could explain the rising figures.
Yield is obviously calculated based on a baseline figure (standard yield) modified by boni or negative factors. See my screenshot (sorry, in German, I translated the relevant info).

So there is a purposeful concept or pattern behind those numbers after all. How it works exactly remains a mystery though…

Perhaps developers never considered anyone would build 139 micro fields and the game is broken beyond a reasonable number like 25? :grinning:
