What happens to soldiers if the barracks are destroyed?

Raiders destroyed one of my barracks. I noticed that when it was rebuilt it was empty, no soldiers. Do the villagers stop being soldiers if the barrack is destroyed? Would it not be more natural if they just went and lived in another barrack, if there are space available, untill thier barrack is rebuilt?

(When I was about to take screen shot for this post I accidently pressed the wrong buttons and the game minimized. When I rezied the game again, the braracks was suddenly full of soldiers. Did I accidently find a short cut key for filling up a building with villagers or what?)

They appear to become unemployed if the barracks (or guard tower) is destroyed.

As soon as the barracks is rebuilt all soldiers will return.

To be more exact, the ex-soldiers will return once the barracks is rebuilt. They do not remain soldiers in the interim, unfortunately.

This is an unfortunate side-effect of how the soldier management currently works, which we hope to improve in the combat update.
