What is "activates off default weapon attack"?

When a skill says this, does it mean it won’t activate when you use an ability like Primal Strike? Or am I misunderstanding it? Because PS is my left-click attack, and I want to make sure I’m not wasting points in skills that say this.

It means it only activates off from skills that replace the default weapon attack. Skills like Fire Strike, Cadence, Savagery, Beronath’s Fury and Troll Rage.

Sorry for being so dense, but what do you mean by skills that replace the default attack? Any skill that can be put in the left-click shortcut? Does Primal Strike count?

All those skills i mentioned are the only current auto attack replacers. Primal Strike is not one. It will say in the skill description if it’s an auto attack replacer or not.
