I am playing a number of characters in parallel in normal. 2 cleared it and 7 are around level 35 - 40.
The MIs* (monster infrequent) I have found that I am intrigued by and might farm just for fun:
Cronley’s Signet ring (seems good extra stats and then hope for good affixes)
Gollums (spelled wrong) ring (found in a secret room in dermaptarian hive) (like Cronley’s good extra stats such as health and hope for good affixes… this could ‘fix’ a character that is low on health or going for super high health)
Some kind of Shoulders that drop off of Cronley’s henchman good for pierce and Blade Trap +3
Troll Club’s??? (not sure if there is a MI for this but I’ve found a useful Vampiric + green suffix club that I like)
Dermaptarian Slicer (good for someone looking for piercing swords… I have a Blademaster Duelwielder with Swords of Nadan constellation)
Another ring that drops off of the Boss in the sewers in Devil’s Crossing (inventory bag quest) - (it was a good start for my Dreeg’s Evil Eye witch hunter.)
A sword that dropped off somebody in Arkovian undercity that allows a new temporary (boss fight) summon that is pretty good. Also bonus to Occult mastery summons…
These are the MI’s that I have been excited about farming so far. Warden also has one maybe (not sure it’s a true MI) that he drops but I don’t have a aether melee build.
*MI’s are a rare class of gear. They are not uniques (legendaries or epics). They drop from a specific monster type (e.g. Darius Cronley drops his signet and Dermaparians (some species maybe a strong species?) drop Dermapterian slicers. They are green same color as rare affix. I wish they identified themselves as MI in their name so wouldn’t have to observe so much to notice their existence.
Does anyone know of a good list of Monsters & Vendors to farm for the best end game MI’s? I just started getting into MI’s and understanding their real value in end game characters but I’m having a hard time figuring out who to farm for which items. If this list doesn’t exist I’d be interested in starting and maintaining it if someone with the knowledge was willing to guide me a bit?
Ceno, what monsters do you farm for the MI chestpieces? I’ve started an end-game MI farming thread and I’m trying to compile as much info as I can find. Thanks man!
Bloodsworn casters drop nice MI chest. However, there are many strong legendary chests, so MI should have really good rolls to compete.
BTW, there is another MI ring worth mentioning - Viloth’s Ring (drops from Viloth the Corrupter). It’s probably the best base for acid WitchHunter. I occasionaly get those while farming Crucible, but hadnt get any worthy yet. This ring fits just one build, so it’s good only if it rolls mods that fit this build as well (for example, “of Blight” suffix), all other mods will be junk.
not sure if this was mentioned already but I got a nice chaos rolled bloodsworn sigil from the Bloodlord himself… also never discount ikrix’s scale medals that give good hp and decent retal damage;)
I have found two so far (Resistant of Spellweaving, Stalwart of Ruin) but am really hoping for a Vampiric of something good. Preferably speed.
Once I get to Homestead I am going to farm osme more Gollus rings. I’m currently wearing a Aggressive Gollus’ Ring of Alacrity (6% OA, health, health regen, attack speed) which I found in Elite. Be nice to find another one with resistances and attack speed.
The problem with amulet is just the same to chest - there’re just too many great legendary amulets, almost for any build in the game, so getting truly worthy MI is kinda hard. You better just focus on farming legendaries instead, to get legendary amulet you need.
I also should add there, that poison builds are usually massively overcapped on poison resistance without any efforts (for example, my WitchHunter has 160 overcap on poison resist, just by occasion), due to Aspect of Guardian providing 100 poison resist and poison-related constellation and legendaries also provide tons of poison resist.
So, poison resist on that MI amulet is actually useless for poison build, and for other builds, poison damage is useless. I dont think it’s worth to farm it, even, sorry.
Is there a better piece of gear to obtain both ADCTH and attack/total speed?
I’ve had a look at some of the legendary amulets and there are some nice ones. I have only 1 char to reach Ultimate so I think I’ve only found 1 so far which wasn’t very useful. If I get a great one later, I can look at swapping it over.
I appreciate what you’re saying about poison resistance, but I think it’s nice for builds that don’t automatically have it. My Sorcerer tends to have a lot of fire/elemental resistance but lacks in poison among others. Getting a chunk of poison resist can mean freeing up an a slot or two in components/augments on belt (antivenom salve) among others.
Total speed isnt that useful, actually, but if you want attack/cast speed and use an elemental build, there is an extremely powerful craftable epic amulet - Empowered Essence of Beronath (in fact, i think that such powerful item should be of legendary quality). Recipe is quite common and can be bought from vendor even (cause i bought it from vendor)! It should be one of the best amulets for your sorcerer.
If you want ADCTH, there are some epic/legendary amulets too, namely, Empowered Warp Shard (even after nerfs) and Thread of Mortality. And the latter is a pretty common drop legendary. And there are a plenty of other great legendary amulets as i said, including many amulets from sets. That’s why you shouldnt hunt for MI amulets (unlike MI rings), better hunt for MI rings or epics/legendaries.
