Anyone got a build for the newly changed Aether ray?
Far from unique, but this is my Warlock: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/gZweBmk2
I really enjoy it, I know there are a lot of people complaining about the changes to AAR but I still get minimum 150k DPS before buffs and the fact it pierces enemies now mean my clear times have sky rocketed.
Also the addition of full Aether Doombolt and the updated Clairvoyance proc all make for some nice QoL changes.
At this stage AAR is good, but it does require some pretty specific itemisation to make it great, but I love the updated AAR personally and was having a tonne of fun last night.
There are also solid Spellbinder options, but I went for Warlock because of Curse of Frailty aether RR modifiers which I can also use to proc Arcane Bombs for really high aether RR.
Good old aether AAR. check the compendium IX, there’s a good one from TZ Tz.
this looks really solid, whats your sheet dps like?
That sounds good. Before I changed Amy, I made a similar build.
After the test, I changed the item because I often died from Immobilize (Fuck Iron Maiden).

Very interesting you guys posted here, totally forgot about Mythical Codex of Lies + did not check the buff to Mythical Essence of Grim Dawn.
Warlock or Spellbinder is indeed a difficult choice now, though i think Pulsing Shard is still better for AAR due to adding weapon damage
Because Spellbinder lacks health recovery and physical resistance, Conduit (and ghoul) + Pulsing Shard is definitely Bis.
Warlock, on the other hand, has two kinds of recovery skills and physical resistance, and you have the option of getting -RR from Clairvoyant.
I choose Codex of lies for aggressiveness and Pulsing Shard (Conduit + ghoul is even more defensive.) for more defensive.
Very interesting–been working on this from a vitality + aether as 2 main damage types angle, and forgot about the big aether boost in Spear of Heaven. Do you think this kind of warlock build would work without time dilation, and with Widow/DG/Rev/the new Scales/ Rhattosh instead? Or is it best to just go for as much either aether boost or straight vitality as possible? (Just one main damage type.)
Also, mechanics question: my limited concept of the ADCTH on Ghoul/Bat was that it’s based on weapon damage–which seems like it would be pretty low on this scepter for serious heal?
Please forgive me if these are stupid questions–I am not a builder, just an old lady player.
is clairvoyant AAR the best setup or is lightning AAR better with pulsing shard?
I don’t know because I haven’t tested it clearly.
If anything, I prefer lightning AAR MH. I hate being forced to do multiple damage types.
I will try this shape next.
Nice spec man! I will try this! With the lightning AAR, I had no issues with mana sustain, do you think this will be the same?
Similarly, I don’t think we’ll have any trouble with mana sustainability. If you have any complaints, try Arcane spark.
Siphon Souls?
Why would Ghoul be BiS? And Conduit? They changed Conduit, does not give WD to AAR anymore or slow, just +1 Arcanist, +2 Maiven, some health, energy and energy regen.
My Spellbinder has 21% physical and about 25% absorb with Maiven. I know I can max Maiven and up PR to 30%, it is just that prior to the patch I was wearing Iskandra set which is not completely unsuited for AAR so currently I wear a mash up of a couple of non-set items except for two parts Clairvoyant set, hat and shoulders.
Spellbinder gets a massive health boost thanks to Spectral Binding, flat and -x% RR with Foul Eruption and Spectral Wrath, 50% + damage absorb with MoT which you can rotate with MoE and Time Dilation for at least a double feature and also reduces enemy damage by at least 20% if you opt to max Decay, more with +x to Necromancer skills. A few points in Ill Omen gives you another reliable CC spell if you feel it is necessary which works on basically everything. Few to none sans bosses are immune to it.
Of course now you can get flat aether and vitality RR with Revenant skeletons so Foul Earth RR is not necessarily needed.
So Spellbinder has plenty to offer over Warlock.
I have been playing my Spellbinder and Mage Hunter extensively the last two days. I hardly ever need an energy drink.
Simply put, I’m focused on defense.
Siphon Souls is good, but I don’t have enough skill points.
I get physical resistance and AdCtH by getting ghoul.
Is 18% worse for physical resistance? Use Jackal (2%) if you don’t need it.
AdCtH is not necessary because it is less effective than other AA neighbors. Bat would be better.
The next, AAR 24% WD Conduit still exists. If you don’t have it, you won’t use ghoul.
Foul Eruption works when you defeat an enemy with RE. So I don’t use this outside of RE build. Ill Omen is also not required. I already have a lot of skills.

Skill points aren’t a problem for Spellbinder. Pierce res is actually overcapped by 10%.
That sounds good. I’m investing more points in other skills, so I can’t afford it.
btw, is the Clairvoyant Spellbinder comfortable to use?
I really dont understand why disintegration is lightning damage rather than Aether, on a channeling skill which damage is already lackster.
What I don’t understand is that there’s electrocute on there, on a skill that hits up to 6 times a second. Bit of a waste.
Ask the same question to flames of ignaffar. A reason that EOR was so broken it first came out because it work nicely as a channeled skill without the stupid counter intuitive dot on it -.-
