Maybe, but removing elite is a change that I won’t like
Even without rep, it’s very useful to fast leveling. Difficult is low and almost every build can blast through the main quests (all portal opens, lokar set and exp potions). Then you go in ultimate and complete the character.
yeah but like i said, if i play 2 difficulties, then elite+ultimate… why remove an option? and starting on elite to switch to ultimate isn’t playing 2 complete difficulties.
didn’t someone once say something like overcoming challenge is its own reward ?
srs tho, the main point of Ultimate will always be additional challenge, since some just wont like facerolling everything the way Normal does - same reason we’re getting another difficulty in FoA, players been requesting it for years because even Ult started to feel easy and wanted more challenge, so now Ascendant mode arrives
that said, there is technical rewards aside from challenge, Ult exclusive drops/items, increased drop chances, exclusive fights - think there was one more that i’m forgetting? unsure
You would have to start in ultimate for it and that is not great…
Single normal difficulty playthrough won’t get you everything. My propsal is that it should be cleaned up.
Two modes. One like in the league - normlal/veteran+ultimate. And the other new with just one balanced playthrough from the beginning that will allow you to achieve everything.
Plus a new option like a check for HC for solo self found character.
no you wouldn’t? you could do that on normal or elite, technically
and whether or not you think starting on Ult being “great” or not doesn’t really change you still have the option of a 1x playthrough ?
i get what you mean/truly want, but it just seems sorta redundant with the multi options already available- nor do i see in which way it isn’t just “nerf” to campaign/a way to make it easier to obtain stuff, but skipping additional leg work we already have different skips for
sorta like “having your cake, and eating it too, and getting extra icecream”
i think more options are good, i’m one of those that requested veteran for ult for ages, but i think this would affect the overall game, making it less of an “option” and more advantageous, sorta like if we could just opt to toggle sunder off in options or other such
*i mentioned it in another thread, i don’t think all features should be vanilla, because of how in practice they tend to turn things away from being actually optional if there is a bigger benefit than not opting for it.
Grim Dawn is an old school game, it was created that way, if what you are looking for is something similar to other games today, Grim Dawn is not for you.

but see what i then refer to with sunder, it would just shift the game to play to whichever is more advantageous to the player(s) (not in terms of fun but speed/ease of difficulty)
if sunder was a toggle, like many has suggested; more people would just play with sunder toggled off because it makes loot easier/faster to obtain
there would be a subset of people that would use sunder for optional challenge, but the norm would be without since it’s more efficient
likewise that’s how i view that "campaign overhaul single structure"mode, since it would probably make certain stuff easier to obtain it would just be the default suggested approach, not because it’s the better/more fun, but because it’s the more efficient
giving players a “choice” of some stuff isn’t always good, since they can go against their actual interest/overall benefit - people complain the game is too easy, yet refuse to not only play Normal, because it’s “wasteful” to play Veteran or Elite type reviews/posts, is probably the nearest example i can think of
and they can do it if they want, they already have that option just by finishing the base game, and if ultimate is complicated to start with that’s fine, if you want the ease of playing only one difficulty you have to accept the challenge.
Grim Dawn has evolved but it still has the same essence, you don’t want to turn it into just another generic game.
A game with deep mechanics can hardly become a generic game… And the complexity will increase with the next expansion. I just think that some things should be cleaned up and now is the opportunity for it.
