I would like to make a build around this Empowered Aetherwoe mace, which is a level 50 epic.
Where would I find level 50 mobs with a level 85 character?

Somewhere around act 3 normal difficulty iirc. I don’t think Conley runs will scale up high enough.
Epics and Legendaries starting at lv50 can drop from lv85 mobs too. But a bigger pool lowers your chances of getting this specific epic, of course
I would recommend Bastion of Chaos (the initial area before the key door), it has good hero density and the mobs should scale up to 55 on Veteran.

Seeing as it is an epic and not a legendary, I’d say chances are you’d find people willing to trade it to you for dirt cheap… there you go, an even easier source lol…
Heck, if I didn’t detonate all my blue items for rare mats I’d probably have 3 of them…
Best place to farm for blues (and not purples) would probably be Veteran transcendent chests in SoT or BoC…
Well since transcendent chests are always exalted stashes (at least blue)… but they only appear in areas with skeleton key access… but again, you wouldn’t DIE on lower difficulties anyway so it’s just a matter of making it worth the blood and the 10000 iron bits.
I have done a few hours of BoC in Veteran now, most of the blue I get is level 58-65 unfortunately.
Yeah trading would be the solution, but it’s always annoying to have to be around so you can trade… plus I play on GOG.
