Crucible on Challenger is the best bang for your buck if you can farm 130-150 reliably.
There is no such a thing as the best place to farm specific item. Its just…keep on farming 
Aside from a very few Monster Infrequents, anything can drop from anything.

Farming is not always the answer when trying to find legendaries.

I think trading is a total bs in this kind of a game, and should be self-found.
I have a friend i got into the game, he was super hyped. I helped him to gear up, pretty much he got all of my self-foumd bladedancer BIS gear. Guess what, he left two days later due to boredom.
What you suggest makes no sense.
I can make 50 Badge of Masteries and still not end up with exact +skills that i want from it. Trading in such cases makes a whole lot of sense.
When you’ve invested a lot of hours into this game and find yourself unable to obtain that one item that can make you complete your build in such a case trading is an option.
Farming legendaries might be end-game for you and your friend. But for me its wrecking my brain to come up with wacky builds and level them to make them ultimate viable. Now that’s fun. What if you have this kick-ass build idea but don’t have the gear for it and by the time you manage to grind to get it all you’ve lost interest in that build or the interest has shifted to another build and then your idea never materializes.
I don’t mind grinding myself but i can understand if someone is tired and simply wants to trade stuff.
I agree with all your points. But it’s his game and it does not matter what he does with it.
