God damn it!
I can’t decide between Act I and III

My favorite Act in GD is the Act Whole

Act 1 has always been my favorite. I love gloomy, swampy forest areas, same for act 3 in D2.

Act Dalia.

Act 4 is really cool because of all the factions fighting at the end. The Necropolis was nice to look at when it came to enemy spawns as it looks like the Aetherials had a foothold over the ct’thon, who are rushing the summoning of the loghorrean. Seeing The Order/Kymon’s Chosen fighting in locations alongside Black Legion was pretty great as the hope of Cairn also had a foothold against enemy forces.

It reminds a lot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl’s ending where a bunch of factions came together to rush to Chernobly NPP.

Are you sure about the way you are dividing the acts?

I think it’s more based on geography than on quests. Well, at least it was this way on the beta.

Act II is my favorite, it seems more linear than the others, but it’s my favorite only if you consider Steps of Torment and Arkovian Undercity as part of act 2.

Act II finished at the end of Smuggler’s Pass and Act III at Darkvale Gate.

I voted for Act II. Cronley’s Hideout and SoT are the two best dungeons in the entire game.

Act 1 for me. Swamps, destroyed towns and creepy dungeons all with a very nice art style/direction and great music too. I just love the feel of act 1. I may also be slightly biased because this is the area where I fell in love with grim dawn  Like 30 minutes into the game I knew I had found a fuckin awesome game

snicker

Act1 is nice but once you reach 85 there is no incentive to go there again, even if the final boss would have a crazy drop rate the laboratory portal is too close to the boss to really have some fun in the well designed swampy/abandonned area. Unless someone come up with a crazy farming route I cant vote for act1.

Act2 is not my favorite, arkovian undercity is a scary place could be fun if it had a 4th level with a secret boss + trove. Running twin fall hive is boring.

Act3 is my favorite overall (quests, map design, mobs)

Act4 is really linear but its not that bad, a bit short but BoC make it a fun place overall.

The two things I wish grim dawn would change is the end game legendary farming. Its not fun doing a 2min run over and over again, at least BoC last a bit longer but for the other area portals are so close to everything you cant really run a 30min dungeon with friends to farm legendaries, you have to reset the server every 5min.

Well check the wikia. That is my source of information. And the logic behind it works fine.

I personally liked Act I slightly more than Act III. Sure Act III had a lots more to do. But those rescue quests and repair quests were really nice. There was a sense of gloom about Devil’s Crossing when we begin the act after we restore their food supplies things seem hopeful again.

I most liked Act 1 with its wide-open maps scattered with caves and other small areas to be discovered a lot more than the mostly-linear path maps in the subsequent acts (Act 3 has some good wide-open areas as well; only a few “extras” to find, though), and the pacing of the side quests is bang-on as well thoughout the act.

The worst stretch (IMO) is at the start of Act 4, the route between Darkvale Gate and Fort Ikon: long, mostly linear, repetitive zones with little of interest and barely any interaction (quests).

Act III is great, while the other Acts are good. III represents the urgency, dramatic music, good lores falling off and shows the might of both kinds of mainstream factions i.e. Aetherials (Gruesome Harvest) and Chthon (Darkvale Village).

The open wilderness, while present in other acts too, somehow appeases me more so in Act III. Personal choice, for lack of specific factors.

Act 1 its like a movie

For some reason I always considered Act 2 as everything between Devil’s Crossing and Homestead. The way you describe it there’s almost nothing to Act 2.

Voted Act 1 btw. It’s the soul of the game.

Act 2 during early access was DC to Smuggler’s Pass. Once they released Act 3 tho I slightly revised my opinion on that and consider A2 now to be from DC until you make it to Prospector’s Trail. From there on to Homestead and even Tyrant’s Hold (and of course ending once you make it thru Darkvale) I consider all to be A3.

Views on it are wishy-washy. Seems everyone looks at it different.

I like elaborate structure of Act1. However, I choose Act2 as a place of farming.

Act3; Structure of various fields is rough. Although Act4 has many wonderful scenes, there is little surprise.
