Which caster build for Hardcore?

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a build that focuses on casting spells whilst being strong in Hardcore throughout the difficulties whilst having high single target damage as well as AoE for boss farming.

If anyone could recommend a build with that and the below in mind I’d very much appreciate it. I’ve tried making my own builds but mostly find the skills I’ve tried are rather weak or the build just ends up being far too squishy.

So, what I’d like from the character:

  • See above notes (tldr; caster, hardcore, high aoe/single target)

  • Not too gear reliant, BUT, great scaling with gear and interesting/strong items to farm to improve the character

  • Has strong crowd control (I really like Flash Freeze for example)

  • Is pretty tanky (kinda goes without saying for hardcore anyway though)

  • Uses “actual” spells, like fireballs or something - not attacks that are somehow considered spells :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess that’s kind of it.

The closest thing I’m aware of is phys Forcewave commando/witchblade.

Apparantley it’s considered a spell, weird. I’ll edit first post to specificy more… natural? spells

You would need to give up either high damage or non-reliancy on gear then. For “actual” spells the key to high damage is ultimate levels, damage type conversion and item skill modifiers.

One of the actual spells that does not require ultimate ranks that much is the rune of Hagarrad, though RoH pure casters are not necessary tanky. There are also multiple examples of bwc commandos, transmuted bwc is not too demanding either.
