Who drops Ice Spike and Sky Fragment?

I need to upgrade my Nightblade. I am loving this “proc” build. It’s so fun but I can’t seem to find level 90+ with Ice Spike or Sky Fragment. At first I thought those mods are totally random but that’s not true.

I usually do 3-boss run from Pine Barrens and I have yet to see any Ice Spike stuff. Mostly Fire/Lightning.

So my question is, which area/monsters drop Green items with Ice Spike / Sky Fragment the most? During Ultimate gameplay, I get them from time to time but for the past 3-4 hours, I have yet to see one.

It’s completely random. You can’t influence certain affixes to drop more.

But how come when I fight those goblins in the Cave who uses vitality/chaos, I see more items with Chaos bolt or Sigil of Consumption?

NO, I am 99% sure certain monsters/area drop certain items more. I am about 7-8 hours into farming and I am still using a level 82 Ice Spike weapon because I have yet to get any one hand with Ice Spike. I am level 100 now.

I’ve been doing Pine Barrens run. Something is really wrong here.

Another theory is that weapons with Ice Spike don’t spawn higher than level 82? Because I have seen a lot more weapons with chance to proc Chain of Lightning or Lightning Bolt. Those two weren’t that many before level 82.

What you are seeing are called monster infrequents - you can see a list of them here just sort by rarity. SOME enemies will drop 1 to 2 specific items that usually share their main stats.

That said ice spike and sky fragment are procs on rares (randomly) and epics/legendaries (whose drops are random) the only semi-deterministic way to find these would be to focus cold sceptres/daggers from the monster mi list. These have an increased chance to generate cold affixes, and one of those affixes grants ice spike.

(Actually here is sky fragment prefix, armor here rings here. Weapons can’t generate the proc it seems so can’t be targeted in the slightest.

How do I focus on cold scepter/daggers from the monster MI list? I swear I have yet to see a lvl 90+ weapons with Ice Spike. I don’t know what’s going on. Level 82 rare weapons with Ice Spike can shoot 3 projectiles. That’s why I need another one.

Try opening the links. Specifically the monster infrequents. Then scroll to scepters or daggers. Look for cold damage basses. Click on those - see who drops em. Farm said enemies.

However, the things the OP is asking for, specifically Ice Spike and Sky Fragment, come from affixes (‘Frostborn’ prefix and ‘of Fallen Skies’ suffix, respectively, on certain item classes). You can farm Monster Infrequents, but you can’t influence what affixes they will have.

So, once again… Confirmation bias, RNG, etc.
