Who is Albrecht?

I’m not sure if the game even mentions the name, but Albrecht can be found in games stretching back to the NES era. He’s also a key character in the story for Diablo 1 and if I remember right, there’s an NPC named Albrecht in Torchlight 2.

So, why is this name used so much in video games?

I think it just comes handy when you need a teutonic flavour name in your game.

Its just a common name you have rarely heard, and it rings a little more arcane than Bob’s Aether Ray.

You know him better as Albert.

I was expecting this to be the case, but I was hoping Crate had mentioned the name somewhere considering the game revolves around the Aetherial invasion and we have Albrecht’s Aether Ray.

I wouldn’t say rarely, but it certainly does sound better than Bob’s Aether Ray.

Actually in the world of Cairn, Albrecht is just a famous Arcanist.

If you have completed the base game and talked to Anasteria than you know the connection between Acranist and Aetherials. Albrecht does have a connection with the witch gods seen here: http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/1030

I can imagine Albrecth after making the Aether Ray:

  • “You know, the Aether Ray looks cool and all but i think red is a better color.”
  • “Oh, i know! Imma ask Solael to make my Aether Ray red. Totally don’t see anything bad happening.”

Thus a new era of Star Wars pew pew red and green lasering was born.

And all was lasered.

Thanks for this. I’ve never seen that ring before and I have spoken to Anasteria, but it’s been a while and I guess I forgot. That was pretty much what I was looking for.

Yes, this is the Grammar Nazi! Yes, this is totally, completely OT. Yes, I logged in just to post this.

The flavor text for that ring should read “…was renowned not only for…”

There is no English word ‘reknown’. The word ‘renown’ is the noun form, while ‘renowned’ is the adjective form. Carry on!

This would have been better suited in the Bug Reporting section.

To be fair Bob’s Aether Ray sounds a lot better than Albrecht’s Burgers

Also, is that Adrian Tepes in the picture?

Yes, yes it is.

OK, good idea. Done.
