Why are my foragers dropping like flies?

I have a new game, in Idyllic Valley, Pacifist mode. My population is 150. For the past several game-years, I have had villagers dying at a moderate rate of disease. Except for 2, ALL of them have been foragers! Hardly any of the other professions have been dying, and none of them anywhere near the rate for foragers. Is this a bug, or is someone poisoning my foragers?

That’s peculiar, but it could also be a coincidence.

Did you keep trace of the cause of death? For example there are many diseases/injuries given by the lack of shoes, so villagers who less frequently get to the storage are less likely to be wearing shoes.

In this game diseases are more likely to happen given certain conditions, you have to read the description of the disease in the upper-left corner.

I had similar on a map I played the other day - hunters and foragers were dying all the time in just one part of the map.

That was just after I had the first death, I was waiting for the graveyard notification to appear, but that didn’t happen until the 2nd death. Then while waiting for the graveyard to be finished I had 2 more deaths. Every year after that for several years I had either hunter or a forager die; most seemed to be suffering from dehydration, though there was plenty of water stocked in their homes back in town. I eventually put a well in that area and that seemed to solve it.

I was having 5 or 6 per session of play. They really were dropping like flies, and I wasn’t keeping track of the cause. I don’t know if that has any bearing on it, anyway. Hunters were fine; every other category of villagers had a “normal” rate of death, maybe 1 or 2 per session of play, but the foragers – oy! It was like a curse!
