Why limit devotion to 50 when there are more shrines

It doesn’t make any sense, especially from a lore perspective, you keep freeing shrines but don’t get a devotion point any more. It would be much less upsetting to just have 50 shrines than to have ones that just don’t count when you free them. I guess 6 or so extra devotion points would break the game.

There’s more than 50 so in case you don’t find the secret shrines in Normal or Elite you won’t be penalized. Think of them as bonuses chances to get gear!

because that’s what the game was balanced around?

people constantly ask questions like this and ‘why isnt the level cap just 100, whats wrong with more skill points?’ without realizing that player power level needs to be established before the game can be balanced, and changing that number would require a complete retuning of the game’s difficulty

6 or so extra devotion points would actually massively change player damage/tankiness (though more the latter). remember that due to the complex nature of devotions and affinities, each additional point is worth more than the prior point. 56 points wouldn’t just be 12% more powerful than 50, it would be significantly more

Most hit it on the head mechanics-wise.

Lore-wise think of it as you’ve reach max favor with the gods. Sure you can keep helping them out, but they can only extend so much divinity to you.

Not so much devotion. But I honestly thought that by the time Act 4 was released that we would get another “free skillpoint quest”. A little bummed over it I guess considering how many freebies we got in TQ. Obviously not enough to stop me from playing. Meh…

As for devotion. IDGAF about extra points, it’s funny how my mind works.

So what reward will i get after the 50th shrine?

You just get Xp and random items, the same as before but without devotions point

But why not? I mean in a hardcore and tough game like GD(that’s a good thing), players should be penalized for not taking the time or effort of finding all the shrines. And what about those players who brave the harder areas/shrines to get every one of them? Shouldn’t they be rewarded for their efforts? And come on, it’s not like one can’t go back and find the left out shrines on earlier levels.

I seriously support the OP on this one. This seems like a design flaw quite uncharacteristic of GD devs. The love of the divines isn’t limited. So why should the devotion points be? It takes out half of the fun of exploring for each and every secret on the map, and isn’t that a big part of an ARPG?

The hardcore min-maxers will, in any case, look up the wiki or find every shrine on their own and to the casual gamer, it won’t hurt big time if they miss out a few devotion points here or there. I hope the devs look into this in a future expansion.

Bottomline: As many devotion shrines, as many points.

Easy solution: Remove the extra shrines.
Harder but better solution: Remove devotion point cap and balance the game accordingly.

Are you kidding? Some of the shrines are found in secret areas, that’s why the extra shrines exist. Or you had some bad RNG or you’re ignorant and you couldn’t make the item that is needed for the shrine(ex. Mistborn Talisman when you don’t have a bonecrusher).

Extra choice exists for those players who aren’t willing or don’t have the knowhow to find those secret areas. This way they aren’t shafted.

Basically what you’re arguing is that secrets are shite and that everyone should get the game’s reward no matter what. You’re entitled to your opinion, but this is what the devs think, so get on with it.

The game is balanced around having 50 devotion points at best, and even then people usually manage to cheese it. Putting a concrete limit on it presumably makes balancing and tuning content a lot easier.
