As the title says. Thinking about starting a new settlement already.
I have noticed that you can only save one game, if you start another the first one is gone.
But as its in its early stages, one can see the reasoning for this.
Nope. So long as you have different names for your towns you can save them all.
Not sure what you mean. For me it works fine having several savegame files for the same settlement. Also, I can have different settlements at the same time in different savegames, as should be.
What I was asking is the following. If I start a settlement now with version 0.9.3, will I be able to go on playing it with the upcoming version 0.9.4 without loss of any features and such. If I understand correctly, the next update will only change game mechanics (such as tier 5 houses) but wonāt have map changes (such as in earlier versions when raiding camps were added), so I would suspect I could just go on with my 0.9.3-settlement and everything should work. Is this so?
edit: Referring to Magpie26ās post
Indeed.
As far as we know, the only āproblematicā issue should be 0.9.5, when salvage sites will be introduced in maps generated with that version. This does not mean that old savegames will be āincompatibleā (meaning no way to use old saves in new versions - so far this never happened as you have always been able to run old saves, so the word āincompatibleā is not used properly here) but simply that the old saves wonāt have salvage sites spread in the map, as it was generated before the new version came alive. Thatās it.
Unless we state otherwise, updates work with old saves.
V0.9.5 will add salvage sites, which like excavations and raid camps before them, need to be generated at world creation. Something like that will Not be retroactive so new saves would need to be started to enjoy them. But old saves will still load.
Alright, thanks for the info, much appreciated!
Btw, why i tried to use restart map, it will make a new map, not really mean ārestart current playing mapā
It should make almost exactly the same map as you were playing if you hit restart. Some resources may move/not be there, but otherwise itāll be the same map. Reroll on the other hand will give you a completely different map based on whatever perameters you set initially.
Obviously as youāre restarting you begin at the beginning and have to build your town up again.
Except, if he played the map with an older update. Depending on which changes where made for map generation, it might well be that the same map seed still gives a different map.
Nah, Iāve been having this issue as well. 9.3a I ārestartā a map and the thing acts as if I rerolled. I can even type the seed in manually and it generates a completely different map
I have been running into the same issue. Is there any possible way to work around the map rerolling instead of restarting?
Welcome to the forum.
Canāt see what you posted as itās too big I think. Itās just all black that I can see.
