I know that once you add a not to the codex it will never appear again, but I was wondering if a note drops but you don’t read it and then quit, will it ever re appear?
I was wandering through the Blood Grove happily killing cultists until I noticed I got Avelline’s Note 2 and then later 3 dropped, yet I never got the first one. Best I can figure maybe it dropped somewhere and I never noticed it. I’ve since run through the Blood Grove 2 more times just trying to get this note and it refuses to drop. Did my inattention screw me out of getting this note?
Avalline’s notes are randomly dropping items. It might happen, that the missing text will only drop, when you replay those areas on a higher difficulty.
Something similar happened to me. Avvelines note 1 and 3 dropped for me. But i didnt read them straight away. Then another Avvelines note 3 dropped. But no note 2. So then i think i screwed up the games drop chance fo this note, as i couldnt get the note 2 to drop. Luckily it did drop in the end though, after many many runs through the grove.
The notes will always drop even if they are duplicates, it’s just that the game remove their tag so that you can’t see the duplicates, but you can still pick them up via the Pick Up key. You can verify this on any spot/pedestal that has a static drop, like the ones in Homestead or near the sarcophagus in shrine of forgotten god.
Same with blueprints, which is why it’s been a massive PITA for me to try farming duplicated blueprints for my friends. They still function like other loot in game, but you can’t see them at all.
