Windows Spatial Sound Update for FoA

Grim Dawn currently uses a deprecated way of handling surround sound. Windows Spatial Sound is not working with the game. Fangs of Asterkarn hopefully provides the opportunity to update this to the modern standard without too much hassle.

I would argue it is more of a bug than an “Idea and Feedback”, because the software does not behave as expected when surround sound is requested by Windows 11 and the engine already has the features for it. It’s also only visible for the user by manually checking and hovering over the sound taskbar icon and noting a missing entry and the sound design might be rated worse than it should be. Currently I work around the issue by third party software (HeSuVi/Xonar Panel).

It’s an old engine. So not sure this will be doable. But the devs have surprised us.

It “should”, keyword here, be just a reasonable update and no engine rewrite. But even much bigger studios struggle with this.
