Witch Hunter help please.

I just started Grim Dawn yesterday and I was wondering what am I supposed to be putting my skill points in.?
I’m level 17 and feel like I must be doing something wrong, due to the fact that I’m beginning to struggle in the main storyline of ACT1.
Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.

You can remove the skills points anytime, just the class bar you cant remove the points.

So, just test the skills and dont be afraid to do shit.

And about Witch Hunter, I have one as well, deep poison/acid caster.

But as first character I recomened you to play as conjurer pet.
Because isnt gear dependent, any blue item with + pet attribute its ok and you can do utimate without any problem or do crucible gladiator, which you get alot exp, itens, components, recipe and money.

Warder physical can do ultimate with blue itens as well, but its boring, pet conjurer I think its better for 1st character.

Let your Witch Blade for 2nd character…
I have 9 character lvl 85 and full geared (which all my characters can do crucible glad solo or nemesis ultimate)

You can play as Witch Hunter and joinning pubs crucible to get some free legendaries to trade with another players.

Edit:

About Witch Hunter Deep Poison/Acid build, has this one, I just changed few things to be able to solo crucible gladiator 150 and nemesis ultimate.

Sorry, double post.

You can also go Chaos/Acid hybrid, cleared all content but Mogdrogen and Bourbon with it (didn’t try yet).

Some general advice as I don’t know exactly why you are struggeling (low killspeed, being killed yourself, standing in green puddles, Warden ?):

  • Invest in Mastery Bar over skills: 2 in mastery, one in skills each level until one mastery is somewhat maxed (around lvl 35-40). And concentrate on ONE mastery first.
  • Pneumatic burst can be a life saver and can heal you more often than health potions.
  • Invest in Physique early on. Life and Life Regen cannot be bad, and most build guides recommend max physique anyway.
  • Some resistances are good early on. Maybe just 25 % in fire and cold resist, so you only have look out for lightning. And poison/aether can be deadly in first act.
  • Components in weapons can make them incredible in first/second act. (Greater) Fireblast is a fan favorite.
  • If you are dualwielding, use default attack as your LMB WHEN you have invested in a lot of the procs along the line (up until base chance to activate). Until then, you will be fine using twohander, sword and shield, ranged whatever. Just keep your gear up to level and the damage will follow.
  • Most common mistake is spreading your skillpoints too thin.
  • And don’t go into the Depraved Sanctuary (Salazar, Blade of Cthon) (Direnis key) until at least level 30/40. You need Chaos and Vitality Resist and killspeed for that one.

You should rather level up with ABB and Lethal Assault than LMB. Put 5 Points in each. Usually you dont need much more than Pneumatic Burst with Transmuter plus ABB with Lethal Assault up until level 50. Otherwise the leveling tips from TigerMark are the way to play. Attack damage converted to health and Attack Speed is also mandatory imo.
