Hi there, i’m trying to keep on fighting with my witchblade (weakblade?) but i’m facing huge difficulties atm. I think the reasons could be found in my relative weak resistances but i don’t know how to improve it without completely unbalance my build. So if anyone is able to help me or give me suggestions, i’d be happy!
My build is a 2H melee build with lots of physical/bleedind dmg, using both cadence and blade arc as main attacks, and curse of frailty as main debuff.
For devotion mastery, i took :
falcon
hammer/anvil
Fox
Berserker
lizard
eel
dire bear
kraken
when looking at numbers, i’ve got only 28% resist at piercing and bleeding, 80% vs fire and 0 to -7 to all the other ones… With only 10k HP, it’s really hard to fight in step 3 elite lvl…
Get Blind Fury, this will solve all AOE problem. Make sure get Mace constellation along the way, best weapon for this build.
Get Fighting Form and Deadly Momentum to 12/12 after gear bonus.
Only need 1 point in Veterancy, Menhir’s Will and Blitz
Only get Second Rite and AotG only for the resist more than anything.
Keep Soldier Mastery at 40. Max COF, best skill along with max Warcry and Breakmorale.
If u accidentally went 50 mastery then I can’t help u. I personally don’t like Olreon’s Rage, can still gear towards Internal Trauma as secondary damage source tho, however, I have no idea how.
Side with Kymon, their weapon THE MACE is great for this build.
Use components on all gear possible, Olreon’s Blood + Olreon’s Chains for weapon and chest. Rest can go on resist.
Augments all weapon/armor for more resist.
Get a juggernaut Relic for mid game and Olreon’s wrath for endgame.
After you did all that, pretty sure you can cruise through Elite like cakes.
My Devotion setup:
-Lion
-Dryad
-Assassin’s Blade
-Hammer
-Empty Throne
-Rhowan’s Scepter
-Sheperd’s Crook
-Oleron
(that leaves 11 points can put anywhere, I get Unknown Soldier and Scale of Ulcama cz its there and gives some life leech and survivability)
Hey fellord, many thanks for these details.
Have a few questions though:
How does oleron constellation work? I mean i put point in oleron constellation that gives “100-224 Physical Dmg +100% PHysical dmg” : is it permanent? Does it need something to trigger?
If i understand correctly, your only attack skill is cadence, isn’t it?
Blind Fury relies on critical hit, with 1997 OA, i have only 14%crit, sounds poor to me.
Following your advice, i still have 7 points free( I do have 50 pts in soldier mastery). should i go deeper in occultist mastery and where?
Obviously, it’s permanent. It’s T3 constellation, that required tons of affinity (often gained with junk constellations. So its bonuses should be really awesome to pay for it.
If that’s against trash - then yes, it’s poor, because your crit VS bosses will be something like 5%, and that’s unacceptable for crit build. 14% crit against a boss is OK.
Oleron’s Rage is an awesome skill if you go crit. And you have to, to proc Assassin’s Mark.
I’d suggest you to use Blade Arc therefore. It has decent synergy with crit (extra crit multiplier). Cadence is kinda weak skill, actually. You may find Beronath Fury being better, even despite in converts 10% physical into elemental.
Also, for ANY 2-h build (especially physical), Kraken is just a MUST-HAVE. It grants higher bonuses than Oleron, despite being a T2 constellation.
ok for oleron’s bonuses, they stack in the dmg of your weapon attacks.
For the constellations, i used to have kraken, but my problems were relative to the lack of resists in my build. With the constellations advised by fellord, i indeed lose pure dps, but gain many resistances.
In these games, you always have to make these kind of choices, keeping in mind that whatever your dps is, if you die too soon, you won’t hurt anyone…
Atm, i still didn’t fix these resistances issues, but it’s a lil better than before.
Raise your status with the factions asap, the gear augments they offer especially on revered are awesome for resistances. Some of the gear they sell is great for resists as well. The revered homestead boots for example offer ~25% ele, chaos, and aether res
Pick up gear that has awesome resists! http://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items On the left click on a type of armor and then uncheck everything, but prefixes/suffixes. Learn what the good resist/health ones are so you can quickly identify/pick up the good gear that drops. For example an incorruptible ring offers ~30ish poison/chaos/aether res. For armor look out for stonehide/natures bounty stuff. Stonehide offers bleed/poison/pierce res/% armor and nature’s bounty offers 20% ele res and like 400 or so health.
…basically a 2h version of my Blademaster (see sig) with reduce resist combined with my unpublished 2h savagery warder!
you should end up with around 2400 DA when full equipped and with all your debuffs, OA isn’t so much of a concern! …I’ve hit over 200k with a critical hit on Ultimate…but you have to be very careful against reflect based enemies as you will destroy yourself!!!
I’m just using a big fat green (rare) mace as I didn’t like how the legendaries worked with it and rest of gear is a mix of rares / epics & legendaries…I use shard of beronath as LMB attack to boost up damage for transmuted blade arc
