[Witchblade] OJ, the Chaos Tank

Okay, thanks. No toons into Ultimate yet, only one into Elite so far.

Imp, not sure if GrimCalc is correct, but it doesnā€™t look like you can put Behemoth on to Field Command any more. For Soldier skills itā€™s Overguard, Menhirā€™s Bulwark, Oleronā€™s Rage or Counterstrike. Occultist choices are: Witchfire, Possession or Bonds of Bysmiel. Iā€™m thinking Possession over Witchfire would be better for that proc.

You still can put it, look at the attachment

You are correct indeed, any of the two will work just fine, will update. Thanks for noticing!

Hello there, i was wondering, what do you think adding a ranged weapon ? Iā€™ve got a Harbringer of Eternal Suffering and iā€™m sure that could work, just need to hit the corect level. Otherwise this is a guide i need (i want to tank but i donā€™t like wearing some shield) so thx for the wonderfull guide.

First of all, big thank for writing this guide. It works just like the build itself: simple, straight to the point and awesome! Iā€™ve tried quite a few builds that I saw on Chinese forum in the last couple months (started playing GD since the end of last year, did stop for a while due to problems of my weak laptop) Kinda sad though even I love this game I never get a character past lvl50+ and never reached Ultimate. And like 2 weeks ago I suddenly thought, ā€œWhy am I limiting myself by learning from a single source? This is so against my style!ā€ So I visited this forum. I was hoping to find a Witchblade build that focuses on Dreegā€™s Evil Eyes, and your post caught my attention. Awesome, it canā€™t be simpler than this, so I gave it a try and it became my best and most enjoyable build so far! I stopped for a few days because of the lack of powerful Chaos-related weapon, but tonight I went came and want to work on it once more. The feel of awesomeness strikes again, this gotta be my first character to stay for a while. So I want to thank you again, it may seems over the top but I really appreciate and feel grateful.

The Harbinger is an interesting option and you could probably use it and swap between ranged and melee. If you want to use it as a main weapon you would have to change the build, with a bit different skill and constellation choices. Would be interesting to make a variation with it!

I am really glad you enjoyed it! That for me is the sole purpose of posting builds.

Hey Iā€™m really new to the game and want to try this build but I donā€™t know where I should put my attributes each level. I noticed thatā€™s the only part in your guide that you didnā€™t really touch on, but in the screenshots of the build at level 15,30, etc it seems your stats were roughly the same at each interval. Does this imply I should go 1/1/1 for all attributes? A lot of other witchblade builds would have me pumping cunning or another singular attribute, though. I know it doesnā€™t matter that much when Iā€™m just starting out and experimenting with builds but I donā€™t want to be choosing a random attribute distribution that ruins my build or anything.

If you could give me some tips on attribute distribution for this build, that would be awesome. Thanks~

Hey Imp,
thanks for making this build, one of those i enjoyed playing.
Can you give us an advice, which faction to ally with? Kymon or Deathā€™s Vigil?
Thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

When in doubt pour all your points into Physique. Itā€™s just plain better than Cunning and Spirit because you need it for the HP and to wear heavy armor, which a melee build canā€™t really do without.

From the first page:

As far as attributes go, you will need 330 spirit the most for rings and amulets, you can get away with less depending on what you want to have as an option, the rest you can pour into physique.

For the most part, stats are all about what you can wear and wield. You can probably get away with most stat distributions as long as they bring enough points to use all the gear needed. For melee characters you end up covering the minimums is spirit/cunning and dump the rest into physique for extra tankiness. You might be able to dump everything just into physique since you get spirit from the occultist mastery bar. The jewelry I ve picked are below 300 spirit but you might want to have a total of 330-350 to be able to test/wear anything available. In my screenshot I got 549 spirit because it was an older character I modified.

I went with Kymonā€™s while leveling this toon. You can just as easily take Deathā€™s Vigil. There is not enough rewards that make a difference to justify a pick, that is why I mention nothing in the guide.

Thanks for this guide, this character is fast becoming my favorite even though I only have half the legendaries for it.

What do you think about using symbol of solael on the weapon instead of riftstone, and throwing a point on blitz for the mobility skill replacement? Would that resist reduction be better than the damage spikes from riftstone?

I found Scythe of Tenebris to be a great leveling weapon from 50-58. Level 50 was also a good point to convert over into chaos dmg in skills.

I am glad you are enjoying it!

Symbol of Solael is a valid choice, so you could go that way and use blitz for mobility. I dont think there is a ā€˜betterā€™ option, it is more about your playstyle and preferences. If the reduction lasted a few seconds instead of just one, it would probably be a better option, but as it is, it all comes down to how you want to finetune and play your character.

Hi! Pls make screenshot with main window character

This build is amazing. I am level 50 and I am melting through Elite!

This is just ā€¦ an amazing guide! Thank you again for explaining everything!

PS. Chaos Strike is AWESOME!

couple suggestions:

-highly recommend falconswoop as OJ has multiple chances to proc per cast.

-iā€™ve played both winterking/oj variants across multiple classes, i find i run into mana problems when not taking arcanist once i get alot of cast rate. arcanist has alot of -mana cost and cast rate increase since OJ depends on cast rate rather than attack. to this end it doenst seem occultist would be the best tree to support an OJ build compared to arcanist.

-this brings me to the next point - since OJ is dependent on cast rate, things like solaels do not really help. the +flat chaos dmg , looks nice, however, post nerf , OJ only takes 25% weapon dmg, so ur only getting 1/4 of the flat dmg benefts per spike the increase is absolutely minimal. most of the dmg is coming from the flat dmg. The conversion from solaels is the only real helpful thing as it converts the flat physical portions too. while u get alot of %chaos dmg from buffs, these are easy to get from gear/devos. i think it would be stronger overall to be a battlemage and take olerons rage + mental alacrity, innerfocus etc. but im not positive

disclaimer i didnā€™t read every single reply so if something has already been changed then ignore it.

Using Blade Arc as main damage source and Chaos Strike as movement/extra ST dps. So the caster stuff is a bit irrelevant.

The OJ skill is just junk, so I aint using that for this build.

I am glad you are enjoying it!

oh, oops assumed ur using ojā€™s skill, cuz otherwise the weapon is kinda trash tho , but i suppose chaos options are scarce

Yeah, beggars cant be choosers!

That said, trashy as it is, at level 58 it is destroying stuff. It just doesnā€™t scale too well to max level.
