im not sure if it is really a bug but for me it seems like one.
The hunters cabin completely ignores its work radius. If the deer population is reduced to 2-3, i changed the work radius to another deer population to hunt there and to save the population. But the hunter completely ignores the new work radius, he still hunts down the last two deers.
The only way to save the population is to pause the hunters cabin.
I would expect, if i have the option to place a work radius, that everything outside from it will be ignored. Forager shacks works like that. If the berries are 1mm outside of the work radius, he will not gather it.
I think I’ve seen something like this happen, as well. Had a dwindling deer camp, switched work radius to a bigger deer camp, hunter kept hunting at the old one.
I’m not sure if it’s related to the fact that animals can often be very far away from their spawn point, so perhaps it considers the old deer camp still within radius. At one point I had boars basically be a map camera away from their spawn point, and if I wanted them to be hunted I needed to place the work radius that far.
Hunters will seek out any deer along the way to their work area.
They will, for example, also collect any carcasses they run into on the way as well. Say if your village kills a wolf that attacked. A hunter passing by to work will collect that.
Confirmed - my hunter had the first hunting ground south from the cabin, I then ordered him to hunt in the north, so the old hunting ground was not ‘by the way’ - the hunter deliberately left the cabin and went south, when the new radius was in completely opposite direction. It lasted for at least 3 hunting trips and then it used to happen again now an then
