It has been found that WPS have slower animations than default attacks or default attack replacers:
This causes some WPS to decrease overall DPS. This should not be happening at all, especially because WPS cost valuable skill points.
If WPS are intended to be slow, then their damage dealt should be increased to compensate.
This has been known ever since the earliest days of GD and it’s been improving a lot ever since. Before only execute was worthy of getting points but nowadays all of them except Zolhan and Amarasta’s Quick Cut are good. Of course it depends on the build. For dual wield cadence you want as close to 100% WPS cause each WPS registers as a double hit, which effectively makes you hit cadence every 2 attacks instead of 3. The overall dps of cadence builds depends mainly on how fast you can charge cadence.
S&B as well as 2h have it differently. Zolhan is generally bad but with Avenger set it becomes very good. In general tho, as far as melee WPS is concerned, only Zolhan and AQC can be considered bad.
For ranged you just get them all. All your dps come from WPS
Edit: I was only talking about cadence but for other autoattacks (fire strike, savagery, RF) the weapon damage multiplies between the WPS and the autoattack which can lead to some huge dps numbers. Definitely get WPS on those builds.
Markovian and Zolhan could decrease you killing speed if you are pickup them into a wrong build
Markovian are picked only for 1handed weapons and Zolhan - only for 2handed
except Zolhan and Amarasta’s Quick Cut
AQQ since last patch are not decease killing speed.
Tested for many times, AQQ now are good
