That’s because you were probably playing a weapon damage-dependent build.
Most summoners have skill dependent-builds, which is another reason why simply moving points around can have such a drastic effect in playing one. Same for most builds that rely heavily on skill damage, really.
I’m still confused as to why the TC is fighting us so much on this. People have offered suggestions and I even took the time to throw out a theory-crafted build based off my old Conjurer who had no difficulty at that fight whatsoever.
If you’re still having trouble with the boss and you haven’t respecced a single skill point from your build, you have only yourself to blame when you die and/or can’t kill her. Just remember that being stubborn won’t get you anywhere.
Ok so among the numerous people who tried to help two people (who did try to help) made a cute little comment on the internets and now you’re gonna judge the GD playerbase? Please no. I’ve been apart of many many communities and this is one of the best.
Sorry I don’t have game recording software on my system as I don’t normally record games. However, after reading this thread I took my pet conjurer in to see what the issue is.
Yes, if you stand still and summon pets they will die in her pool of nastiness pretty quick. I used the typical routine I use when I don’t want pets to stand in the shit (DSITS - Don’t Stand in the Shit - common MMO term used for hunters and such). Since pet’s are on a leash and there is no manual control option to call them to heel, you have to move to a point where the boss is off your screen and then a bit further, the pets move to you. Once you have Myla’s aggro it’s not such a problem, you just judiciously kite around while pets slap the boss around and stop from time to time (once Myla has used her teleport and isn’t visible), using a heal if necessary to take a hit or two before moving on. Yes, I did have to resummon pets a few times. My character was never in danger of dying. Just kite around the central lump of earth.
My Conjurer is level 42 and it is almost 100% true to the Pokemon build in the compendium. I have 3 pets, Hellhould, Briarthorn and the skeleton from the Black Grimoire of Og’Ngesh, though he really isn’t much of a factor.
I can post screenshots if for whatever reason you are still unconvinced, but I would rather not take the time.
Any character who doesn’t have to fight her face to face should be in no danger of dying to the wraith. Like I said, you need to actually be trying/be really unlucky to die to her. Her only dangerous move is that AoE attack (and only at melee range). As long as you keep moving she can’t kill you.
If you have decent resists/HP/regen you can even tank her attacks in normal. Easy to do if you decide to focus on Occultist first and max out Blood of Dreeg (all my summoners do this, it basically trivializes all of normal/veteran difficulty).
I took my level 43 Arcanist and face tanked her, only moving when she put her puddle out. Took about 1/10th the time it took on my Conjurer. It’s the price you pay when you put your damage into Pets and out of your own hands.
This kind of attitude, telling somebody to “stfu” or that his/her buil is crap is a nice way to make things worse, so you’re not helping in any way, other than just inciting flame wars, so if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself…
Now if the OP is REALLY sure that the boss is unfair for pet builds, then perhaps he could upload his character save file and let others try it to see if it’s indeed his build that is the problem, or if he is not dealing with the boss in a proper way.
Generally speaking when a person blames the game for their failures even after people have offered positive advice and shared experiences of their own, there’s nothing you can do to help them. In their mind, they are 100% convinced the game is just impossible in their given scenario and people are ignorantly jumping to its defense. I’d be willing to play his or her character to see what’s going on, but I highly doubt it would solve anything. This community is one of the better ones when people ask questions (even elementary questions) as you’ll usually see plenty of people offering advice and very little flaming/trolling going on.
So it’s not just your ability to play the game but also your ability to reason that is complete rubbish… good to know.
Your build sucks. Your ability to play the game sucks. Your ability to take advice sucks. Your ability to improve yourself based on reasonable feedback sucks.
This all leads me to the conclusion that you suck.
Not on Veteran play, but my Normal L43 Conjurer just wiped the floor with her. Or rather the 3 pets did. I’m following JayNyne’s Lazy Pokemon guide and I didn’t even need to take a health potion. Just set off the attack, backed off a bit, kept casting Grasping Vines while the other pets went to work and it was done. Only 10% Vitality resistance as well. That’s the sort of battle I like.
Yeah the playerbase is “way to helpful” and friendly… They tried to help you multiple time but the only thing you do is demanding proof that this boss is impossible with a pet build… thats seems like a healthy reaction to getting help, right ?
Killed her yesterday with my new pet build on Veteran.
Having both hellhound/briarthorn lets her heal up a bit too much so I then just stuck with the hellhound and it did the job nicely.
Also have maxed blood of dreeg which I’ll eventually respec out of for throwing points into the mastery for Manipulation.
I’ve noticed that there seems to be 1 attack that is rather devastating to pets and that would be the “ghostly fire ball nova” or “ghostly fire ball burst” (dbr names) as I’ve noticed my pets take a ton of damage from several heroes/bosses that have this skill.
