Hopefully a quick question for those who may know …
Do the two abilities below stack?
- Scorpion devotion, x1 reduced target’s defense ability for 5 seconds
- Blight Fiend’s Rotting Fumes, x2 reduced target’s defense ability for 2 seconds
If not, how do they work together? Does the larger amount override the smaller amount? Do they work like a DoT where the debuff clock resets if the second skill acts after the first was in effect?
Bigger overrides smaller, and duration refreshes upon reapplication. Any debuffs with the word “reduced” in the description (10 reduced enemy resistance) do NOT stack, whereas debuffs that have a minus sign (-10% fire resistance) DO stack. This applies to resists, offensive ability, defensive ability, etc
Thanks. So if I understand correctly …
If the Blight Fiend’s effect was applied one second into the Scorpion’s effect, and the Fiend’s amount was greater (i.e., x2>x1), then the total duration of the two effects would be 3 seconds, thus truncating the 5 second duration from the Scorpion’s effect?
That’s actually a good question that I don’t know the answer to. I think that scorpion’s effect will still be present after blight fiend expires, even if it was temporarily overridden for 2 seconds due to the stronger Blight Fiend effect. This is just a guess, though
Edit: here is my guess as to how it works in detail-
Second 1: scorpion is reducing DA by X1 for 5 seconds.
Second 2: blight fiend is now applied, lasting 2 seconds. DA is reduced by X2. Scorpion is still active, but is “dormant” due to being overridden by Blight fiend
Second 3: Same as above, except Blight Fiend effect is almost expired.
Second 4: blight fiend expires, so DA is only reduced by X1 due to the still-active scorpion.
Second 5: same as above.
Second 6: Scorpion expires.

Thanks again. My suspicion is that it is either as you describe (i.e., one being temporarily suspended), or as I postulated that one is simply overwritten (in both value and duration). The latter seems easier to code than the former.
Oooh boy, since debuffs in this game are based on the Titan Quest engine and code, there’s a chance nobody knows for sure
