Your personal armory to store all your legendaries

Hello everybody !

Yet another post about stash space.

Like every hack & slash game and Grim Dawn is no exception to the rule, one of the main goals of the game is collecting loot. Loot to level up your char, loot to make a collection of every legendaries at the end-game ? Whatever, every reason is a good one since it’s the heart of the game you love.

In every hack & slash, I see people whining about stash space. I’m one of them, like many of you probably.
In Diablo 3, the excuse used by the devs was “It’s an online game, we cannot store all those items on your profile because it’s taking up too much space/bandwidth”.
Since I doubt it’s really a good excuse but rather bad game design, this is not the case for Grim Dawn since it’s local.

Sooooo… ?

Let’s be clear, there is no real problem of stash space during the leveling up of a char. Compared to D3, you already have a lot of space to store your stuff.
But the problem comes for end game.

What is end game right now in Grim Dawn ?
The answer for most of you is more than obviously : finding all legendaries which make your character near to perfect and also collect all legendaries in the game. And that’s it. There are no other end-game options.
And here comes the issue : where do you store all that stuff ? Not in your stash.

You could make mules, a lot of them. But let’s be honest, there are far more elegant options to implement in the game.

The one I have in mind is :

When you reach level 85, since you saved the world and you are a “legend”, wouldn’t you deserve a room in fort Ikon, called “[Your character name]'s armory” by example, with 3 chests (it’s only an idea) :

  • Epics
  • Empowered Epics
  • Legendaries

Where you could store 1 instance of all items in the game ?

Could it be an achievement when you reach 85 ?
A mod in the future ?
A small paid expansion ?

Share what you think below guys

Use one of the tools available for storage space. They work wonders.

Ok but it could be easier if it was included in the game
And you are never sure that your tool will support later versions of the game, so you take the risk of loosing all your items.

Anyway, could you link your tool ? I’m interested to see what it does
Is it that one ? (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30848)

This is the tool i use.

The stash tools like weed wizard’s will always work. GD stash is just saved in a file on your computer, the program is just moving different stash files in/out of the directory. I don’t think we have to worry about Crate fundamentally changing how our gear is stored

I kinda like your idea of a room in the Fort. Dev’s made the stash thsi size on purpose and have given reasons why. I don’t think we will see a change from them. Using a program like Wizard’s is very fast/easy/convenient so it’s not really a problem unless you refuse to use such a program for some ungodly reason. Also the 1st mod to come out for GD will probably be stash size mod

Thank you for your tips ! Much appreciated !

I can use that system until I find better (in-game coded or mod).
Indeed, it’s only manipulation of files so no risk… and I have no problem with that. Storing items you got legit should really be part of the game

Actually, there are any good reasons or excuses, absolutely none, for a local game to prevent really huge stash space.

You play a lot, you loot a lot. So tiny, small or medium stash space actually punish people for playing

Space ?
No. At install, even you are not sure if people have a large disk, you could ask “Large stash support ? yes - no”. If yes, create a pool of 8 gigs (what is 8 gigs nowadays). And you have nearly unlimited space.

Memory ?
No. You could split chests to display a fixed amount of items at once.

Gameplay ?
No. Like is said, playing is looting. Don’t punish us for playing the game.
What should the advantage of forcing people use external tools, making mules or throw items away ?

So what now ? Another bad reason ?
I see none, sorry

I have about 60 legendaries and as I have 4 85 chars I need to put these in the transfer part of my store to look after the farming if there is something interesting with each char. Do you think that’s normal that I have to download a program to get statisfied ? This is not like it would be a problem to add transfer space.

I’m not and I won’t use those shitty programs because I don’t want to get my legendaries disapeared by a an error or something like that.

It is and they are called mules. It takes less than five minutes to make a new character and kill Kyzog to gain access to your shared stash (ie. create a mule) and maybe an extra few minutes if you want to grab the first inventory bag. There’s always a risk with file manipulation but it does make things easier. From personal experience in the past with TQ Vault, you won’t ever lose access to your items.
