Heh, I’ve done that with SS and movement runes lawl. I’ve had to retrain myself to pay close bloody attention to what he’s doing. Also I swear the shotgun now has better predictive tracking now, because it’s hit me when I’ve been moving >_<
And the burst damage is far more noticeable in SR80-81, which I’ve taken to using for stage 2 of my testing process, because it’s actually worth doing now and fun to try my poor/ADHD-addled piloting skills against . It’s still noticeable in 75-76 if you pay close attention to the health bar with the right sort of build, it just does lower enough damage it’s not enough to be of notice usually.
We had some people in our Discord do it, it has indeed a juicy damage. Question is, what happens when you meet Maiden or Grava with it, how does that fight goes. But also, gimmick = means less mastery synergy less gear support, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work to some extent.
It eats IM fairly easily as long as you don’t accidentality run into her in a shard and get sundered as the result in the middle of a mob. Which I have a bad habit of not doing due to not paying attention to the nemesi marker. While Grava is facetankable, but you need to avoid his nullification balls because they do a lot of damage from what I’ve encountered in SR80-81. Though instead of drawing them into the scenery, I’ve found I can just kite them until they despawn thanks to dodge.
The main reason it works so well is the obscene +crit which majorly helps the DPS, which combined with hardcapped Savagery + WPS + the medal does very well for damage output and sustain.
Not bad for something I haven’t even min-maxed and theory crafted on a whim to see how good Stormserpent would work :3
btw, I think regen’s definitely going to get a nerf, as there’s a stormserpent trickster build with double rare MI’s that uses heavy regen that can facetank Cally in 54 seconds thanks to “of Natures Bounty” on everything bar the shoulders. Tried out a variant using the build I posted earlier with a ring, devotions and skill points changed and the difference was night and day in fighting her.
Was struggling and almost took her out with only some respec into regen + a gollus thunderstruck of readiness ring, but fully speccing into regen allowed me to take her down in 1.2 minutes with lots of dodging etc. Currently ironing out a sane version that doesn’t rely on double greens via SR80-81 and think I’ve cracked the spec:
Needs more tweaking and might swap Hawk for Eel because that DA is a bit too low for SR80-81, have to dodge Valdaran too due to reduce adcth. But it’s only slightly slower and more capable of dealing with mob swarms due to even that lower amount of regen. Could also swap out Tempest for Hyrian and the first 3 nodes of Wendigo, but Tempest is doing a lot of AoE and electrocute work in SR that helps deal with mobs and heroes.
Slightly slower time to kill to, since the other spec can kill Fabius before he puts up Blade Barrier :3 But the regen spec I suspect will be more versatile and capable of going toe to toe with super bosses by shifting skill points into regen.
And of course Zant’s still making health go up and down with his 3 projectile main attack Just this build out regens and adcth it’s it when Ghoul procs.
With the right choice of WPS etc Crystallums aren’t needed in my experiences, the SR spec version eats mobs with ease, while the regen spec is a bit slower due to dropping 1 WPS to use the points elsewhere , but Reckless Tempest helps massively with mobs I’ve found. I can be focusing on 1 champ, only to have the surrounding mobs and champs melt before I can get to them.
It’s weird, but it empirically it works out good enough provided I remember not to overextend myself or to dodge Valdaran’s attacks regularly.
I just thought that hitting multiple mobs with execution or AQC or even brawlers gloves wps is the selling point of Lightning Trickster, that’s what our Discord builders did anyway, I never explored that build really.
I find the build and piloting to be a bit strange personally. You invest in BWC for damage reduction but hardly use it. Arcane bomb is attached to 1 point flashbang, which is also not used very often at all. You take items that aren’t lightning oriented and use x2 seal of might, presumably for phys res (make use of BWC instead??). You gun for 3.5k OA but have low crit multiplier.
having 80% res is not the issue, it’s the lack of defences. When your blast shield/prismatic rage is down, Zantarin does ~10k damage or so if the 3 projectiles hit you. That doesn’t leave you much room to survive his pet damage as well.
It seems you went too hard on phys res and ignored your defence against magic damage. Not surprising a Nemesis like Zantarin is a struggle at this high shard. Remove flashbang, max demon fire, take points out of VoS to put into BWC instead. Use the skill and keep demon fire applied. May as well attach arcane bomb to BWC too.
Well, the build is a work in progress Plus I do throw BWC when it hits cooldown, it’s just hard to see amongst all the visual noise.
But yeah, I forgot the first node of BWC does OA shred, taking that into account + my experiences with how amazing useful regen is now, here’s the modified version:
Drops one WPS and changed the rings plus the chest component + augments and drops Hawk for Behemoth for more regen. Might test if out today, but I have a bunch of stuff I need to do so probably wont get time for it. Speaking of which, I need to go be functional right now instead of messing around
So I took some of your suggestions into consideration + finding out first hand how strong regen is in 1.2 and came up with this:
In SR80-81 testing it did pretty well, even eating Kasian’s sunder while facetanking him. A bit better at handling Zantarin too, but still needs to dodge regularly to reduce build up of vitality decay, same with Valdaran too. But took softcapping the first two nodes of BWC to get good enough to readily get through SR80-81.
Only time I reset was when I got 2 timewaster shards in a row, with the 2nd being Gazer Prime >_< Which I tried to yolo straight to him, but should have taken my time and murdered all the gazers first to reduce incoming damage.
And despite the loss of a WPS, thanks to BWC enemies die in about the same time.
Will probably look at different Devotion paths though, since this one isn’t entirely optimal.
