0.8.0 trees problem still there

What have changed? I have the feeling - nothing realy.

I still have to place a lot of decoration trees, which I can only do when having a market.

I am always low to zero on planks, I need for fire wood (homes and productions) and boards for my buildings too.

All buildings take so long to build, because of constistent wood lack.

Even now, in year 12 I could place workers camp, I cannot see that they regrow trees, it is still too slow :frowning:

Do you blanket harvest everything in the local area or selectively cull mature trees (and those within building plot sites)? Or are you playing on arid highlands, which can prove troublesome depending on the seed.

I do both, define an area and selected sometimes, because with selection I can harvest only big trees, with the area all get harvested .

I now use the workers camp to only harvest big trees, but there are not many regrown, so not enough big trees in the working area.

And buying planks is not an option, tier 2, not enough gold, planks are too expensive,.

My map is fertile not a wasteland.

I guess that’s one of the reasons I love the game so far: the resource management challenges. I also play at a slow pace so having to wait on resources doesn’t phase me too much. Tier 2 town hall in and of itself isn’t a restriction; my latest game had about 6 years of low wood but is now up to scratch once the population increased.

Tip: in winter (last two months on the top scale) move all your foragers and farmers to labourers using the professions panel (“P”). You’ll get at least a month’s work of tree chopping out of them, and you should find trees within range (unless you’ve got a bad seed which has yielded hardly any trees, anywhere). If the trees are quite a distance, build a road there this winter and wait until next winter to get the logs.

I have the opposite experience. 2 camps of workers with 4 workers in each. Mining area on oak forest and I haven’t moved the mining area in 20 years, Because they can’t keep up with the mining. I’ve got over 1000 pieces of timber in my warehouse. Plus 1 sawmill on level 2 with 6 workers and 1 sawmill on level 1 with 2 workers and I have more than enough boards. Which is a huge change from the previous version of the game where I had 4 worker camps and still had to move logging areas, plus 3 sawmills level 2.
I’m not complaining, at least I don’t have to worry about it now.

did you start a new game? these differences in gameplay sounds very strange, it should be the same for all. Seems the random calculation is too high percentage range.

Yeah. I played the game after updating to 0.8.0. Idyllic Valley map. Difficulty Vanquisher. Town Hall level 3. 387 inhabitants. I have 2 worker camps. One camp is still cutting down the same oak forest and the other camp is now focused on stone. There are also 3 wood splitters, 2x sawmills, a furniture maker and a barrel maker.

If you play the updated Version 0.8 (as you say) there should be no problem with your planks. Sure if you bump up your furniture production for your sale you can get rid of your planks. But even then, just start another tree plantation (with dekoration trees) and get a second third or fourth saw mill (this should not be necessary in this version). I just stopped all my saw mills because i have way too many planks.

The Time to build things is already very “improved” and my towns grow in a reasonable time.
Use your “planewagon” to first harvest raw resources in the near of it, then drive whereever you want to build a town. It will be done in a reasonable time. But be aware of raiders.
