[1.0.0.6] Pure Soldier, OP Cadence and Break morale in action

Like title says this is pure soldier build

To make this I used soldier build I made long ago, reworked it a bit, put WB set on it, some fancy green stuff I got over the months of farming and posted it in this tread: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48290

Some ppl had a bit trouble to guess what build is it, some asked me to post setup so here it is.

I polished it a bit, pooled some more dmg out of it, but be advised that this setup is far from being optimized and needs loot more polishing.

I would do it but lost my last coins gambling at tyrants casino, and Im to lazy to farm with this setup, its a bit slow for my taste.

But don’t get me wrong this bad boy can facetank and drop Fabius and Mad Queen (didnt tried other nemesis due to not having nemesis status with other fractions). For luls I even let old Fabius hit me for ~5 mins without hitting back, poor thing couldn’t proc my Menhirs will.

You have abundance of skill points to spend so play with them as you like.

Its a bit tricky with attribute points it needs high spirit investment cuz it lacks 2nd mastery to pump some spirit.

This setup has 24 points into spirit, rest is physique.

From this point now I can see that 22 points in spirit is enough, but this is old char and back than I didn’t knew what I know now.

Devotions are defensive oriented with high aim of caping resistances and getting some HP. Even aether and chaos are capable if you are ready to change hawk for empty throne but i didnt wanted to lose some more OA, cuz this setup lacks it a loot.
Probably devo setup could be better, but like I stated earlier this build needs polishing so feel free to experiment with devo setup also.

In closing:

I said earlier: With buffed cadence and broken break morale soldier class is highly op, anything that takes soldier go phys dmg sword and board can trash the game by just holding LMB. And as you can see actually you dont need to take anything else than soldier to trash the game.

And ofc when you to something that is already overpowered add something more you just get more overpowered char:

And its not just WB any sword and board solder supported char is OP.

Warborn set - components: Scaled hide, Chains of Oleron, leathery hide, Olerons blood - augments: 3x 7% Vitality/Chaos, on gavel 35% phys dmg 25% pierce, chance to reduce armor, 200 hp

Siegebreaker - Reinforced shel - 35% Chaos/Vit dmg 15% chance to 15% reduce resistances 8% Chaos resistance

Voidsteel gauntlets - Unholy inscription -7% Aether/Chaos

Reforged chains of Oleron - AV salve - 7% A/C

Ok after long debate about this build and some people thinking that is OP because of top notch gear I decided to prove them wrong.

So here it is: PURE SOLDIER BUILD WITHOUT ANY LEGENDARY PIECE OF GEAR AND NO FANCY MIS

Ok it has a looot dps less, but it still can trash whole game content, face tank and drop Fabius in bit less than 2 mins. Mad Queen is a bit issue cuz it has huge regeneration and can be bursty, but you just need more time to drop her and to disengage few times when she is on pms :slight_smile:

So basically only things that really changed are clear speed and kill times due to having less dps, survivalbility is not a issue.

So you dont have to be afraid of Fabius+Notched bone combo, he has exactly 0% chance to crit you, same goes for Mad Queen.

I reworked this build in last couple of hours, farmed, and used some stashed epic that I have.
Tbh there is probably large number of items that aren’t legendary and could fit this build better than this, but I used what I had.

In closing 2: I stated my claim and I will not discus any longer about soldier being OP class, gearing or anything else about this issue. If someone achieve this with any other single class build I will reevaluate my statements, till than I rest my case.

Thx, but its not actually a build its just one class and hell of a skill points that you can spend were ever you like, you would get something similar even randomly distributing them :rolleyes:

I would love to see some video’s of fighting the mad queen and doing gladiator in Crucible.

Didnt tried it in crucible, I dont play it a lot and have trash of a PC to take any videos wile playing :confused:

But if you have doubts and have some soldier supported class unlearn all skills from non soldier class and try it, there wont be much of a difference except you will have less skill points to spend (which is not a issue cuz you have them to many) and you will have attribute points from other mastery bar.

Well a few months back i switched from a pure soldier lvl75 to a witchblade. When fighting the mad queen in Elite difficulty the difference than was like night and day. I also had a pure soldier on which i completed the game, but than due some changes i was forced to a 2nd mastery and made a commando. Mainly due a 2nd mastery being more effective. So wondering how much effective it is compared to having a 2nd mastery.

Well it is everyone´s decision to play solo class, but one of the reasons, why i like GD is multiclassing. We all know that Soldier class is pretty good (my current Ultimate chars have combo with it - Warder, Blademaster, Witchblade), but from my point of view it is pure wasting to not use second class into build.
I can also imagine pure Arcanist or Demolitionist, but why not to combine them?

For example, here is my Witchblade, i have made it for farming 150 gladiator Crucible and the char is pretty successful there. And i like all the Occultist´s additionals.

Ofc that is less effective, but that’s not the point at all. Point is that Soldier is OP and even single class solder can do thing some dual class combo cant.

You are missing the point also and you can see picture of my WB at the end of 1st post.

P.S. I would like to see pure arcanist or demo facetanking Fabius, not to mention Mad Queen.

Is it possible for pure soldier class easy kill / facetanking Fabius and Mad Queen without Warborn Set or any legendary?
Maybe only with Rare (green) or Epic gear.

With Markovian is doable for sure dont know about other setups but I think that it wouldn’t be to much of a problem specially with defensive devotion setup like this. Ofc you would have to equip some high lvl epic and/or some good rare and MIs.

They are helping that’s for sure, but thing that makes it OP at most are:

  1. Hard hitting cadence (and its phys dmg based) and flat phys resistance reduction from break morale, on 22 you get 45 flat resistance reduction.
  2. With Menhirs bulwark, Menhirs will, overguard, shield training Soldier is almost unkilable when wearing shield. Not to mention that menhirs bulwark and shield training are giving flat phys dmg, so they are greatly buffing your dmg also.
    So basically you are hitting almost as hard as build that are going dual wield or 2h and get to wear a shield for extra protection, its absurd :rolleyes:

P.S. Everything is gear dependent, some build less some more, this one less than most, but you cant expect to drop toughest bosses with common gear :wink:

Even with 2 points that you mention, I’m curious can he face tanking nemesis and mad queen with common gear?

If no, so how less gear dependant pure soldier can fight nemesis and mad queen?
May be it’s nice if there’s example of the common gear

Since it’s really hard to get some specific special soldier set and legendaries.
Like my case, it’s very rare to drop just one Warborn helm. That’s RNG…

I’ve to remove augment and then transfer it to my other char.

So to get the OP soldier that can trashed bosses and nemesis we still depend on our luck. Imho, not all people can get easily this OP soldier that able to trashed end game bossess (this OP Soldier itself is a Legendary)

And again its not matter of gear here, put best gear there is on some other single class build and try to facetank fabius and see what happens, much less let him hit you for 5 mins, not to mention Mad Queen.

P.S. About rng luck, Im hunting for DM shoulders for months now, farm, gamble, everything, and still dont have ones, but that didnt stooped me from making Blademaster build right? :slight_smile:

You guys are talking like Markovian set pieces or Warborn are falling from the sky…

There are tons of builds which seems OP with full lv75 sets - however there are just a few builds which work without said items.

After all you need a build to farm the OP stuff with in the first place.

If someone can share is this build viable to Solo reliably farm Gladiator w150 with substitute items (since i have the shield only so far and have 5 lvl 85 chars)?

it’s a very common flaw in the forums when people ask for a great build for clearing Ultimate content. Light’s Defender’s Elementalist or Markovian’s Witchblade always look like poor answers to me, but there are more common than Cadence Witchblade or Birmstone Pyromancer, which are way more accurate imo.
