[1.0.0.6] The Basilisk, Nidalla's Venomblade

Mate ur build sucks. There is no need to max out Vindictive flame cuz the stun chance wont increase… Max out Explosive strikes is useless cuz it only deals 30% of ur attack damage and a bit of fire/physical per hit. The Nighblade passives wont become AOE (tested and confirmed) if procs. Oh and the only reason ur build worked is the GODLIKE gears u have… If a noob sees and tries this (especially the Hardcore Veteran only guys or liberals/feminists) they will outright get destroyed and prolly blame u. So I highly suggest u put " for pro only" or “not noob-friendly” on the title… Peace mate and have a nice day:))

Vindictive Flame gives total speed and health regen.

Actually it does work. Perhaps you need to test more carefully.

Actually, this is one of the least gear dependent builds I’ve played with. Most of its damage output comes naturally from skills and devotions, not gear.

(especially the Hardcore Veteran only guys or liberals/feminists)

Aaand… there it is. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Can’t say I’m surprised.

Awesome guide, very detailed and well explained! Also very fun to play build so far. =)
I’m only missing the last 4 devotion points and a few skill points.

One question though: With your proposed gear setup including components and augments, I’m missing around 40% bleeding resist. Any ideas where they went? ^^ Could you please list all your sources of bleeding resist so I can find out what’s missing?

Thanks!

I have a 36% Bleeding Resist on my Zantarin’s Shoulderguards of Mehnir’s Wall. Since I use rare items for the shoulders and both rings, you can mix and match them to get the resistances you need. In case you can’t max bleeding resist, I find it to be the most forgiving resistance and not imperative to cap.

That’s it, thanks. I had already tried to mix it up with another ring, which dropped my DPS by ~4k though. Not worth the trade in my opinion. ^^

I did dude. I used a Blademaster and a Saboteur to clear out Darkvale. The Blademaster clear time is 8 mins 34 secs while Sabo is 8 mins 2 secs. Not really different at all and when Execution procs on Karroz dealing 3k I notice the mobs around him dont die instantly … Maybe u should read this http://grimdawn.gamepedia.com/Explosive_Strike_(Skill)
Apparently ES just deals a bit of damage to targets around u with every AA, it doesnt make WPS skills like Execution becomes AOE. I have tested it very carefullly and calculated the damage between a normal attack from a Blademaster and an Explosive strikes Sabo. There is no significant different besides ES deal a bit more damage to mobs (u have to skip MA however which is extremely useful in bossfigts). Perhaps we should ask Moderator about this ?

To showcase a new tool for gearing I’ve prepared one for this build.

I do not really know WHAT it is, but I’ve never had this much of a struggle leveling an “end-game” build before.

I’ve died a couple hundred times, easily, between levels 45-66.

And I’ve taken multiple characters up Ultimate without dying.

Has the game been tweaked extremely since OP made hid character?

Really? I leveled this as my 2nd character ever with little twinking and found it fine. Here’s some advice though if you are finding survivability to be a problem:

  1. This is not a facetanking build, like I said. It is meant to have high DPS and kill most enemies quickly, or hit and run if they are tougher.

  2. At those levels, spring for Blast Shield, Flashbang, and Shadow Dance rather than DPS skills. Flashbang frequently. You will find that most mobs can’t touch you then. If you have Abomination’s Tainted Eruption skill, put that on Shadow Strike and most of the time, mobs will be confused. The CC on this build is excellent. In my build guide, I advised DPS skills earlier rather these ones, but that’s just a suggestion and it may be the wrong order: better to get these skills first for improved survivability.

  3. Your DPS is enough. Look more for survivability in gearing.

Comparatively, this is not going to be as tough as a shield-build or a warder, for instance, but I haven’t found any dual-wielding melee build that is stronger during leveling or has more survivability. They generally tend to be a bit squishy. But look at the Bastion of Chaos video, for instance. At max level, with all the survivability skills in place, the build doesn’t really have a problem even facetanking some tough bosses.

OP: In your leveling guide, your level 10 Grimcalc doesn’t match the available points. I don’t see how you can have both lvl 5 ABB and level 8 Lethal Assault.

:confused::confused::confused:

At lvl 10 you should have 27 points from levels + 1 point from giving the scientist guy in Devil’s Crossing his crystals. So 28 pts.

15 into mastery +5 +8 = 28. So it should work out.

Yeah, I think I missed something…but, I’m a few beers in, so…

Yeah, really.

I made a Warpfire Sab a long while back, and it was MUCH easier going… don’t think I died to anything but Aether pools before Ultimate.

And I made a shooty-shooty bang-bang Sorc long before the final build.

I’m used to Paper Tigers.

But this build really didn’t show much promise to me, until I hit Tainted Explosion, just now.

I’ll keep going, and see.

I’m not sure what would be different. Warpfire Sab has the exact same tools for survivability. DPS is similar, though FireStarters are easier to get than crafting a good dagger.

Oh you know what, the latest patch increased monster OA by a good amount in Elite, I think by 10%. That’s probably why. Ultimate changed less so it should feel less different there. But then in that case I would recommend getting more survivability earlier and leaving some DPS skill points until then end.

thanks for this guide … I managed to facetank madqueen and drop her like 22 seconds using venomlash and basilisk claw ( same devotions setup)… pretty solid as long as you know what your doing! I recommend this build if you have the gear if not better! :stuck_out_tongue:

You definitely need to run mitigation now, during those mid-levels.

It is heavily gear dependent, no matter what the OP claims.

It merely is not Set dependent.

…I still have yet to get a damned Uli belt recipe to drop.

But I do have a Basilisk Claw.

So I hopped over to this Sab over my Tri.

Certainly good gear is necessary for the build to perform at its peak, and very helpful for the most challenging parts of the game, such as Crucible. But when I say it’s not too gear dependent, here’s what I mean:

  1. It doesn’t require any specific piece of gear in any slot.

  2. It gets most of its DPS and survivability from skills and devotions, not gear. Gear can just be stat sticks.

  3. It can easily complete Ultimate without the best gear. I completed Ultimate with this as my 2nd char, with no real twinking except components and reputation scrolls. The number of times I died was in the low single digits.

I have the recipe but i cant find a god damned rift scourge slicer… where did you get one???

They are just so hard to get I have been farming rift scourges for hours and haven’t found anything!

First, Basilisk Claws are just fine. I completed Ultimate and Challenger Crucible with them. DPS on the character sheet between them and good Rift Scourge Slicers was comparable.

As for farming, here are the best places I’ve found:

Hargate’s Laboratory (the island with Slith). Not the island itself, but the lab. There are plenty of rift scourges there on both levels, and I find a Slicer about once every two passes through.

The Hidden Path toward the Guardian of Dreeg. There are usually Rift Scourge heroes there. Drop rate seems about the same.

The Warden’s Cellar. There is usually a cluster of rift scourges around. I find this one less effective, because there is a wide non-linear area to search and it seems less consistent.
