Hi, I’m playing this build on ultimate (pretty close to the end) and enjoying it a lot. It’s my second character, I’m playing together with a buddy who’s doing Aether/Demo.
I’m having a lot of fun, but I’m also noticing that both my damage and survivability seems pretty limited. I’m dying a lot, and my damage output seems to be just kind of alright, although I don’t have much to compare it to besides my other character and my friends guy. Maybe that’s just the way it goes if you’re self-found on ultimate, I don’t really know.
I still enjoy the playstyle and build a lot, but I’m wondering what I can do to improve damage and defenses. Should I farm for some specific legendaries or monster infrequents? I’d appreciate some pointers, I still feel pretty clueless even though I’ve almost “finished” the game on ultimate.
I’d try adding a life steal element to your build. Totem and feral hunger might not be enough always Move some devo points to 3 points ghou at least, try to take the ability too. It’s great for leveling. Try restles remains in gloves too.
Use leggplates of valor if you have them and replace a silk swatch with a scaled hide. It will make your armor more efficient vs trash mob. At the moment it’s phys damage killing you not pierce or bleed
Thanks for the tips!
I got three points into ghoul, couldn’t scratch together the fourth sadly. Did all the other stuff though, already noticing the increase in survivability.
Should I look out for any legendaries/rares that are good for the build apart from the obvious +xx%lightning stuff?
Edit: This is my dude now.
Edit2: Found Ultos’ Stormseeker randomly just a second ago, so damage is looking better as well!
I have a question about this build. I am interested in starting this build as a second character, but the levelling guide mentions that we should switch to 2 handed melee at level 75.
Does that mean we should use ranged weapons? Makes sense considering the Demolitionist. ( But we do not get to the Demolitionist until level 30. )
Okay, first of all I would like to say that I plan to continue with this character as my first play through of Grim Dawn instead of the Witchblade I started before this one. Many fights appear to have gone faster and easier with this character then the Witchblade.
But I still do not understand something? Most likely I did something wrong or I just do not understand this game yet. Plenty possibilities of why I am in need of asking this.
It is mentioned that on each lvl up I should place 2 points in the Mastery bar and one in a Skill, and so far till lvl 13 I have been doing just that …
In the coming 7 levels I will get another 21 skill points, 14 of those should according to the level guide go into the Mastery bar. And the remaining 7 into torrent and Wendigo. Now my issue is that this means that I will have Torrent fully levelled up but Wendigo will only be at rank 2 instead of rank 4 shown here in the level guide? And I will not be able to put points into storm surge at all?
Yes I know I could use all 3 skill points once to get there, but then I am not sure I will have the Mastery bar at 32 on character level 20. Did I do something wrong or is this situation normal?
Savagery on LMB like you have it, honestly anything else is completely personal. I don’t have any abilities bound to my RMB but that’s just how I like to play.
I think the text/calculators aren’t fully updated… I know he mentioned in some previous posts they weren’t updated, and I feel this is still true because if you look at the paragraph below for levels 21-30 he also says to max out torrent.
Take everything with a grain of salt, follow the general guidelines. If you’re off a point or two it won’t hurt you much at the lower levels.
Any tips/ideas on how to get decent gear around lvl 55? I switched to melee a bit too soon (dying all the time vs bosses), need to get something ranged again :S
I can craft the Ulda’Jax you asked for earlier. For melee, the Legion Warblade should be enough to play through most of ultimate (I managed to), but you need to be revered with them.
So, I’ve been following this guide more or less to the t. I’m level 74 now and in Act 2 Ultimate, and I don’t know, but it feels really clunky to play at the moment, also I keep dying a lot to random trash mobs when they start piling up - especially against faster mobs. When I’ve set up the mines, a good chunk of my health is already gone when it’s a larger pack.
Also, the throwing of the mines and the mechanics of them seem so weird to me. It seems the way the mines split up is totally random and unpredictable, and the despriction says they’re lasting for 60 seconds, but they seem to disappear after a much shorter period when they’ve been activated. Can someone please explain that to me? ^^
I switched to melee rather early, but I feel like staying ranged would’ve been better. On that note - how significant is the shown DPS when comparing weapons? Every single two handed ranged weapon I’ve found so far is at least 2k less DPS than the sword I’m using.
And yeah, I know my Vitality Res is kinda low… need a fix for that soon.
P.S.: I wanted to link my build but the forum software won’t let me yet, because this is my first post. Uhm, yeah… I’ll work on that.
Turned out that at level 17 I reached 32 in the Mastery bar, and all the skill points from level 18 to ( Including lvl20 ) could be used on the skills. So even though Grimcalc me not be up to date yet, it is still correct for levels 1-20.
Crap I just discovered a stupid mistake on my side! ( No ones fault but mine. :furious: )
My shaman is currently level 23, and we should place 3 in Phys then one n Cunning. ( And then rinse and repeat. ) But idiot me forgot it was Phys then cunning, and so I have been placing 3 points in Phys and then one point in Spirit instead. So at level 23 that is five points in spirit instead of cunning … is this a bad thing or not.
This would mean 15 points in cunning from now on instead of the 20 mentioned? Does this mean I might not be able to use certain high level end game items, or am I simply being worried when I should not have to be? ( Please say yes. )
