[1.0.2.0]Cold Ignaffar Infiltrator - The Mage Slayer

You are missing the point though. I would like to get my hands on those items. Actually find them myself. And in some cases those greens make a HUGE difference. Like say the kind that allows you to facetank things you can not without them.

I would certainly like to see these guides to give people some alternative gear choices in case they are missing those greens. I know some guides do, but not all.

Use Mageguard Legguards then and adjust augments. I have quite a few Wendico lifescent so you could balance resists.

What i’m trying to tell you is that chances for MI’s are much higher now. Green’s drop like candy

Umm, yeah greens do. But i didn’t notice any difference when trying to farm MI’s like sect pants for example. Or cronley/gollus rings.

I made an account just to say thank you for the build having a blast so far!

leveling part:
I honestly have no clue how all you have have problems while leveling with this build ? :l My highest char was 56 so I had almost no twink gear… and I only play on HC veteran

I maxed rune of algaroth and rushed + maxed Aura of conviction and mostly using 1 points in all the rest and maxed nightchill + veil of shadows after.
You can oneshot any boss if you stack 5 mines.
for devotion I went Giant’s blood into hand of ultos
Might wanne add it as viable leveling option orso ?
My leveling so far was super smooth and super fast no downtime and barely using pots

lvl 62 atm in elite and my flames of ignafar is still lvl 4 orso.
I only use it to procc hand of ulmos devotion…
No clue how to get my hands on whirlwind component or where it drops or w/e as I’m a total “noob” :d

One question though “farah cube” is it farmable ? Is there a lvl 50 variant? I didn’t feel like maxing flames if it does fire dmg
And where is this gamblar you guys talk about ? :d

Thanks in advance !

Cube is farmable but late game. If you have,
you can use 2x chillflame scepter at lvl 58 for cold ignaffar. Or just keep playing cold rune+2x gun or melee ti’ll you get what you need

Chillflame scepter is indeed OP but I need a second one to drop

Hi.

First, sorry my bad english.

i’m new at this game. i need base stat point and base skill point. i cant understand “Grim Dawn Build Calculator” link.

For example “Endless Flame” skill point 6/12. how many skill points did you spend on “Endless Flame”

Thank you.

Endless Flame has 1 pt. And so does purge.

If you’d want to specialize more in Ignafar line you’d have to drop Cold rune and get more CAst speed. Mage hunters do that with greater ease so infiltrators benefit more from mixed tactics

There seems to be a lot of people in this thread complaining about FoI leveling. As I’m making an “unimaginative” fire/lighting FoI Purifier, I had some nice experience with early FoI:

  1. Your char will suck badly for first 15 levels or so. But these are gained fast enough so it’s not a problem.
  2. Apart from putting a couple (but not too many) early points in FoI itself, the cornerstone moment is to get Seal ASAP. Flat damage reduction increases your survivability by a ton during early game; and if you actually put points in it - it will be enough to carry you through the entire Normal/Veteran.
  3. After you get Seal, just focus on bringing out more DPS to FoI along with energy regen - and you’ll be fine through the rest of Normal/Veteran.

Remember that there’s always an option to use 2H (or DW) weapon for Ignaffar for a very substantial DPS increase. There’s also a bunch of early rare weapons that will complement fire damage nicely.

For someone who doesn’t have the Mageslayer set, what would you recommend? I have some mixed gear that might benefit, but it appears after testing that my damage is really low. My survivability is fine but the damage is too low to be viable.

I may have to farm some more gear before finishing this build.

Cold gunner;) it’s how i leveled. You can even buy guns from death vigil. Combine with a frigid barrel if you have/want for frostburn (MAX ABB odf course) and cold rune+chillsurge

So ignore SS and just go ranged for the most-part? I think my problem is my mixed gear is too spread out for damage. I’ll trade off some of my lightning/fire gear for cold gear and throw a cold gun into the mix. I’m sure I have plenty of those in my stash somewhere.

I’m trying the Mage Hunter variant, but with the runebinder set which is the one i own and should be the rune focused. It also has a weapon that offers a LMB skill. However i don’t really know what to think of it, i’m no expert at theorycrafting shit and so far the only thing i know is that i really hate the “traps take 1.5 seconds to arm”
Maybe runes suites better a melee character or if you wanna be fancy join in a party and be the one that causes heavy seizures and lag to your mates.

After finding the offhand, I experimented with mine which just finished the game this morning. You don’t get the Aura of Conviction, as you need Censure to replace Veil of Shadow/Night Chill, but you get Off, rather than having to spend so many points into Run of Haggarrad. You get Maiven’s and Mental Alacrity to fix energy usage issues.

Anyway, I was about reach 145K DPS while in the seal and damaging. He was pretty effective. My normal setup was a lot more tanky, but half the DPS.

Yeah Mage Hunter is a different animal that can afford to be more centered on ignaffar. You can indeed reach ~145 dps, 220 in crucible.

On the other hand Mage hunter is a bit more vulnerable in crucible and is forced to stand more in one place. But if done right he melts.

Nice build!

Hi !

This build seems really fun, thanks for sharing it.

The leveling is gonna be a little hard no ? I mean energie-wise, because FoI costs a lot. The idea is to rush to Endless Flame and get Owl devotion first ?

Until you reach lvl 94, you aim for fire on your stuff ? Same for devotion ?

You don’t need to level with ignaffar, as cold ifnaggar is itm dependant. My advice is to go dw cold guns (can buy later from death vgil too) max LA, ABB and Cold Run+chillsure. Get rhowan crown and murmur devo. You win:)

Ok thanks Superfluff

After reading each pages of this thread, I decided to try both ice and fire rune for leveling. It is very fun, and effective. I’m level 20 so far, leveled in Crucible to get easy devotion points. Going back to the main story now in veteran, shouldn’t be a problem.

I took FoI too, I love channeling spells, reminds me of my warlock in WoW back in the days …
