*Note, we can’t use Reaping Arc Skills from Relic, because Reaping Arc require melee weapon (Hex Launcher is Range Weapon)
It’s okay, since we’re using chanelling spell anyway
I mean that since we are using Chanelling Spell, any other skills will interrupt this Chanelling Spells (in this build is Drain Essence)
Less active spells will increase QoL, we don’t have push to much buttons that will interrupt our primary Skills
Apostate has more Aether RR, thus more Aether Damage, but has no Mirror
Spellbinder has less Aether RR, but with Mirror + Mark of Torment we have 2 nice defensive skills
Mirror is “cast anywhere” skills, while Seal we need to stand in it’s radius
Mirror’s more handy than Inquisitor Seal
Also we have access to Arcanist Super Nullification
However I’m not too interested in seeing videos where the only thing that is cleared is trash. Rather see some boss fights and see how it does against them.
By the time you have reasoable gear with any build, trash clearing is a one shot adventure anyway.
I started GD again with the expansion with a somewhat similar drain essence build but abandoned that one at around level 74 because I totally got oneshotted every time on one of the end bossese of the campaign.
Nice Weapon suggestion, I missed it
Yeah more Aether RR is nice
Thanks so much, I should try it when I’ve time
Drain Essence itself is Offensive Skills + Defensive Skills simultaneously
Thanks to great OA reduction from Decomposition
Also Life Steal from Hungering Reach
Combine with other defensive layers like :
Mark of Torment + Mirror/Seal + Nullification + MoD + good enough DA + Terror + Fully Capped Resistances + Tree of Life’s Healing Rain
It has good enough defense for facetanking Iron Maiden, Fabius, Valaxteria’s Mobs, also with good timing it can facetanking Last Boss (Master of Flesh)
I would like some hints as well about leveling this build. I’m a bit gun shy if you will at taking the time to muddle through on my own having tried at least a couple dozen builds for GD and having had some become too, too fragile on the way up or at the top.
Specifically, how did you get your guy to level 90 I think it is so you could use the Reaping Arc granted by the level 90 artifact.
Did you not use a default weapon attack?
I suppose I could muddle through and find something but since you did it obviously, lol, how did you do it?
This build is very intriguing.
edit: I did find this “*Note, we can’t use Reaping Arc Skills from Relic
It’s okay, since we’re using chanelling spell anyway.”
This implies to me, hopefully correctly, that the “chanelling spell” will somehow make it ok that I don’t have a default weapon attack. Is this correct?
I do see in one of the graphics that you are using the “Weapon attack.” Did you use this all the way up to level 90.
“*Note, we can’t use Reaping Arc Skills from Relic”
is refers to Second Build that use Hex Launcher, since it’s range, it can’t use Reaping Arc
“It’s okay, since we’re using chanelling spell anyway”
My apologize if I didn’t explain this one.

You don’t have to use Reaping Arc for leveling to 90,
AAR with Mirror, Mark of Torment, and Nullification is enough for travelling to Ugdenbog Forest
OFF is great for Freezing mobs, very helpful
Ok . . . thanks a lot. Especially for the prompt reply.
As your creation seems a bit, well a lot different than other builds I’ve done, I used the GDTH to recreate him, and all the stats panned out:) So I think I will go ahead and level him up by the book so to speak.
BTW, during my test I did get mobbed a couple times and died (admittedly I was pushing him to find the break point), but just wondering, especially in Malmouth with the big mobs and very hard hitters, how do you handle them.
Just curious, as I could just figure something out when I get there. But this is your guy and you know him best.
Once, again, thanks. Especially, for all the hard work on the write up and well edited too, lol. I know its a lot of work.
I’ll try to show you when fighting with Malmouth mobs and hard hitters,
Btw which one do you wanna see, Spellbinder with AAR like I said above or Spellbinder with Drain Essence?
Spellbinder has good enough damage mitigation :
Mirror
Mark of Torment
Nullification
Ravenous Earth’s Decay also good for enemies damage reduction
Well . . . um, I’ve been building up my guy with Drain Essence, I could use a demo on that. That would be great.
This has been interesting. I was looking for something different. Its taken me awhile, I’m used to either getting in a demons face and pounding on it, or blowing them up with a ranged, either two hand or dual wield. Hosing them down with DE is fun too, lol.
