Having +2600% Lightning Dmg +680% Magical Dmg from Spirit stat, 21/12 Stormcaller’s Pact, 12/12 Elemental Balance, I got 135% crit dmg and 170k sheet dmg.
With that beeing said, even with maxed out 26/16 Primal Strike, 22/12 Torrent and 18/12 Storm Surge with Thunderous Strike crystal modifier that got a small buff last updtate, and now has -18% Total Dmg, but still -75% Weapon Dmg…is no were near competetive for ultimate farming.
1st of all, i never ever see red crit hits, just light yellow ones, even if i have 135% crit and 170K sheet dmg…wtf ?
I have a suggestion for the skill.
Make the crysal modifier have 3/3 skill levels:
1/3 has -75% wep dmg with -25% total dmg
2/3 has -50% wep dmg with -15% total dmg (available only on elite)
3/3 has -25% wep dmg with -5% total dmg (available only on ulti)
This skill looks amazing and it’s very sad to be just a passing skill that u use in lower diff levels. In my opinion it still needs another buff. What do you think ?
Also Torrent could use a 75%-90% weapon dmg at max out lvl…46% seems too low for that high level of skill
Yeah, taking 15 seconds to kill Benn’Jhar, 30 seconds Mad Queen and 40 seconds Valdaran with my Primal Strike Vindicator is apparently “weak”. And it’s ranged Vindicator. :rolleyes:
Relative to single target skills, I almost think it’s overpowered. It doesn’t do a lot less damage than Savagery, in fact it does more damage than Savagery if you take away WPS’s and the skill is AE. It’s not supposed to be killer single target DPS, but it’s quite good non the less.
I’m curious, what do “red numbers” actually do for you? I don’t notice any obvious advantage, other than it lets me know that my OA is way above the target’s so I’m going to crit often.
As far as I can tell, the more your crits hue over yellow/orange/red the higher your crit multiplier (I’m assuming this is for base crit multipliers from PtH/OA vs DA). That’s my assumption anyway from playing the game and watching others.
Is that a problem of Primal Strike? No. It’s a problem of your low OA, which is common for non-Savagery shamans.
Your suggestion won’t make the numbers red, if you care about the color.
In my opinion it still needs another buff. What do you think ?
After 1.0.4.0 it’s a good skill at last. Weapon damage is effectively at 185% at 26/16, while Savagery is effectively at 195% at 26/16. That’s not even counting Torrent which is another 35-45% of Weapon damage, that already pushes the skill above Savagery in terms of weapon damage. Moreover, the total amount of flat damage on PS + Torrent + Storm Surge is so high that it’s like you’re dual-wielding 2H weapons.
You said your sheet DPS is at 170k? Why, isn’t that already fairly impressive? Just checked a few builds in the classes subforum - most have around 100k DPS. And your 170k doesn’t even take Torrent into account.
The only reason why I still use Savagery is because of Feral Hunger, extra OA/DA/Slow resist from Tenacity of the Boar as well as 8% phys res from Might of the Bear. Savagery is just better defensively while probably slightly worse when it comes to single target DPS, and PS is by far the best attack replacer when it comes to AOE.
If Crucible wasn’t expanded to 150-170 simultaneously with buffs to Savagery and PS we might had seen complains that 2H Ultos is too strong.
Again, comes down to your builds, which you are all-too reluctant to show. How much Resist Reduction or DA reduction are you using on either build? Are you using Execution/Cadence?

Your problem isn’t the skill it’s your optimization. As others have pointed out your OA is too low. It should be above 3k (minimum)
Your build only has 34% RR reduction plus Hand of Ultos, which is multiplied separately after the the 34% RR is applied (rather than subtracted like the others), which makes it not so good for RR. That and your OA is going to make it fall behind your other build for sure.
Dunno what to understand from that. And i just finished story today with my druid on ulti and started to try to make him good…thats why im asking a lot. Will eventually look to all builds, but as an ideea, i want thunderous strike as primary attack for a build, its looks cool, bust still cant compete on ulti to others…u remain behind with kill rate. And for solo its far from good for single target
OP, your build is pretty much an experiment on how high it’s possible to push +%damage and still keep the build nominally playable. Most experience theorycrafters would had just told you from the start that it won’t work well if you asked. You did your best to gimp your OA in the process, so ofcourse you won’t crit much. Moreover, all of your high %crit is only worth it if you could at least crit your enemy consistently, otherwise it doesn’t matter if you have 10% bonus crit multi or 150%.
