[1.0.5.0] Purifier for very fast and safe 150-170 farming

The changes to crucible and aura of censure made this build so much more safe and tanky than before, so now it can face tank everything in crucible and clear even faster due to not having to kite. This makes it by far my favorite build for farming. Also only needs 2 buffs (damage and health).

This build clears 100-150 in 20 minutes on average and 150-170 in 10 minutes (even with multiple iron maidens which slow me down a little).
I can easily squeeze in 2 150-170 runs in a single set of buffs even with looting in between.

I’ve also killed Lokarr and Avatar of Mogdrogen (Ultimate) with this build, face tanking them without any troubles or consumables (used Ugdenjuice for Mog but don’t think it was necessary).
Haven’t tried Ravager yet but will in the future.

Build (passive buffs + WoR)

In crucible with judicator procc, devotion proccs and buffs I get up to 4k OA and 4.6-5k DA most of the time.

Grimtools (original version)

Grimtools (current version)

How to use this build:

Keep up WoR and Inquisitor’s Seal, Flashbang set Thermite Mines up around you, then just hold down Autoattack while using BWC and Rune of Kalastor on cooldown.
Always focus on the tankiest enemy, everything else (even nemesis) will burn and die without you having to specifically focus them.
On waves with slow enemies or spread out spawns, just walk up to a boss, spend a few seconds stacking up burn damage on them, then blitz over to the next boss and wait for them to die.

Pros:

  • Amazing area damage
  • good single target damage
  • very safe
  • very fast

Cons:

  • Single target damage lower than dual wield melee builds.

Gear and devotion choices:
MIs are not required, but the extra DA from stalwart prefixes helps.
Could use Chausses of Barbaross or Legwraps of the Transquil Mind for the pants slot, Golemborne Greaves for boots and Mark of Divinity for the medal slot instead.

The shoulders can be replaced with Stalwart Iron Maiden Shoulders with +3 to BWC but I don’t have any with a great suffix and the build is a bit low on the HP side, so I like keeping the 2p Justice set.

Ignaffar’s Combustion would be a good relic choice as well, I prefer Korvax due to the mobility skill it provides to finish of stragglers and move faster in the main game, which this build would otherwise lack.

Devotions are very offensive since the build is very tanky anyway. One could consider dropping Chariot for Phoenix to benefit from the damage and absorption of this devotion proc, but I don’t want to give up the OA from Chariot.

An even more offensive setup would be to replace Untouchable with Skybreak Bulwark or Gunner’s Aegis, Use Ignaffars Combustion and a component skill for mobility with the extra resistances you get from one of those shield.
Basically trading a bunch of DA for +1 to all skills, some damage and another -10% resistance reduction. This build’s damage is already pretty good though, and most nemesis burn down very fast, and all that DA from Untouchable is just very comfortable.

Comments and feedback are appreciated!

Videos:

170 Crucible with extra spawn

Very flashy build. Used 2 buffs (damage + health) and finished in around 10 minutes.

170 Crucible with extra spawn (modified version)

Slightly different setup (3p justice and two enchanted flints for more damage) and different arena. Finished a little bit faster as well.

Lokarr kill

Not the fastest Lokarr killer out there but he literally can’t touch me at all.

Congrats for the build. Looks really tough and powerful.
With censure recent buff, I believe that BWC purifier can be as good if not better than BWC sorcerer and commando.

Would love to see a video of that.

Few questions:

  • Have you tried Infernal Knight set? Is it better or worse for this build?
  • 22/16 in thermite mine seems a bit excessive, I think, 15/12 in Blast Shield is much bigger value
  1. Yeah, I used a BWC Commando for crucible farming before since the purifier would just die occasionally even though it had a lot better dps due to censure.
With the changes, it’s just as tanky as my commando in the old crucible on top of having significantly better damage. I kill iron maiden almost twice as fast as before now.

  2. I started out using the infernal knight set on this build, but found the pieces very underwhelming individually on top of having a mediocre 2 piece and 3 piece set bonus.

So I gradually swapped them out for more promising looking pieces (iron maiden shoulders and Ulzuin’s Torment at first). Since I also used the Justice chest and found my hp on the purifier a bit low (around 9k), I switched to the Justice set shoulders as well, since they also give a nice amount of phys res and damage. If I wanted, I could easily get BWC to 22/12 as well with iron maiden shoulders, so the 4 piece bonus from infernal knight isn’t really necessary either and would just cost me too much overall.

  1. I never took overcapping blast shield into consideration, since I am immortal while it is up anyway and extra points don’t increase the uptime (and almost immortal when it’s not up :p).
As for thermite mines, I’m sure that extra RR is the best way to increase my damage further with the excess skill points I have (since it affects all my skills and is percentage based), so I went with that.

  2. I’ve never made any videos before, but I might download something and try later.

This makes me wonder how this will stack up clear speed and safety wise vs the BWC/devastation sorceress I’m leveling right now. I’ve already got a lvl 100 purifier I could try it out on, but I only have a few pieces of this gear, I was gearing him towards the aegis and justice sets (superfluff’s gun and shield build). Looks like a cool build though.

Thanks for the answers!

You might want to check my green items shop for the pair of bwc shoulders you are looking for.

Nice looking build - will certainly give it a try, thanks.

I haven’t tried a sorceress yet, but don’t think it would be much faster, considering you would probably have to kite during mirror down times.

Thanks, I already have a decent stalwart iron maiden’s, but I’d probably only give up the Justice Shoulderguards for stalwart with a very good suffix.

Video of a crucible run is up now in the second post!

Do you think you can turn this build to a dual wield melee purifier or will it be too squishy for 150-170 ?

Thanks for sharing this build by the way !

I don’t think so. This is a caster build, not melee, so if you don’t want a shield, then an offhand is better than another weapon, cause dw melee restricts your medal slot. Not saying it won’t work. But dw melee purifier is a niche build (check my profile, i have one) but it’s still nit a dw build at heart. Ranged is another question though. I’m pretty sure Dagallon can work well, but haven’t tried it.

Of course you could, but there is no way you could still face tank everything so you would end up with a kiting caster (you’d lose a ton of DA from medal and shield).

I made this build as a fast farmer that doesn’t really have to pay attention to a lot of stuff.
If you want even more damage, going with Ignaffar’s Combustion and Skybreach Bulwark or Gunner’s Aegies would give you another ~15-20% damage at the cost of a bunch of DA.

Thanks for the build. Working on leveling a purifier to try it out. Just wondering what your thoughts are of using the justice helm (for 3 piece bonus) instead of the infernal knight?

Definitely an option as well. Gives you a lot more freedom with your resistances, some health and around 5% more burn damage overall, but you lose a good chunk of damage on BWC, your biggest single source of burn damage.

Edit: Added a crucible video where I use the justice helm. With the 2 enchanted flints I can now run it should definitely outdamage my previous version, so thank you for bringing it up again. Have definitely been seeing a lot more 200k+ burn ticks than before on my last run.

Also added a Lokarr video. Might do Avatar of Mog again too, but it takes like 20 minutes to kill.

hi, noob here.

just looking to clear crucible upto 100-150.

i try to play solo, so that rules out getting gear via trade.

do u think i can manage to beat gladiator crucible 100 with random self-found gear and NO buffs? EDIT : can i level via crucible alone? like, rush bosses and when u have problems then do crucible for some gear/levels?

im willing to play safe, kiting when neccessary.

i ask this because i really love the playstyle and name (purifier was my fav soul in rift!! and blackwater cocktail… sounds insane hahahaa)

what do u think?

I definitely think it’s not a bad build for getting started, it’s easy to level in both crucible and main campaign (max BWC with some devotion bound to it just clears all the trash up very fast without you even having to stop or wait for them to die).

Doing 100 crucible in self found gear should be absolutely possible, since you can pretty much play this like a tanky, kiting caster if you don’t mind clearing a bit slower.
Just try getting your resistances in order and pay attention to your blast shield cool down on the tougher waves.

When you notice that you cannot fully tank the tougher waves, you can always just tank until blast shield pops, tank through it, and then keep kiting around a bit until your blast shield cool down is ready again. Your burn damage will also keep damaging them while you kite, so you have a lot of flexibility here compared to melee builds.

Another important thing is that none of the gear I use is really integral to the build, so while you’d obviously lose defensive stats and damage, the build itself still works.

The medal I use can be farmed very easily. I was very lucky to get stalwart of dranghoul within just a few hours of farming Fort Ikon and Archon’s Crypt on my summoner, but I got like atleast one stalwart drop every run and ended up with a good amount of stalwart of attack/readiness as well.
So finding a decent one shouldn’t take long.
For belts, the blazethread sash works very well as well (only a rare), there is several viable relatively common pants, justice set isn’t that rare either.
Warpfire adds a ton of damage, but is in no way integral to the build.
For ring slots, you can just craft some yellow stalwart ones (super common, might need to craft a bit more if you also want a good suffix on them).

Thanks for the awesome build - currently leveliling it

One word on Magi constelation - why not replace if with Phoenix? Magi overall seems to suck according my experience with GD and Phoenix adds extra dmg absorb as well as flat fire/burn?

Actually Warpfire is the reason these fire builds work so well. More than half of your burning duration comes from it. But i agree, it’s not integral like Octavius is for trauma for example. Still i remember my sorceress struggled to finish challenger without it and after i found it i was butchering Gladiator.

I finally tested your build and found it awesome!

Added it to my compilation.

Great job!

The constellation adds a lot of burn damage and the devotion proc you get from it adds another pretty good damage source.

Well like I said, it adds a lot of damage, but without it you’ll just have to fight longer/kite more. With integral I mean stuff like conversion items or sets that are required for certain builds to work.

@Zhuugus: Thanks! Glad you like it as well
