[1.0.5.1 Infiltrator] Blades of the Luminari - Nex/Ortus Elemental DW/wps 170 viable

Hey everyone! Are you tired of stacking defensive ability or cooldown reduction while running away from mean ole grava’thul?!?

[SIZE=“4”]Then you are in the right place!
Here is a DW build that can facetank basically all game content by stacking Life leech, using tons of weapon damage procs, strong aoe, and WPS skills to kill at a very respectable pace.

I didnt have many tributes when i started this run. took roughly 32min for 100-170 as you can see from the 17mil score at the end. Lost my damage buff, which i started at 100, at wave 169. Overall 160-170 Ive done quicker, but on 163 cole and his lackeys were in a bad spot… same for zan on 170.
Time can be improved by running a stonewall/vanguard banner combo on cruci of grove or of void. both those maps can create a nice overlap and terrain doesnt impede our elemental balance procs.

Moral of the story is I’m bad. lol

[SIZE=“4”]Leveling/Gearing/Devotions
This way of leveling focus’s on stacking flat damage/life leech to plow through campaign content. There are many ways that work for leveling, but this is how I chose to do it.

Levels 1-20
For starters if this is a secondary character use any writs/mandates/warrants that you have available before starting the campaign. Also if you have a character at Revered with Malmouth resistance be sure you are using Potions of Clarity. They are a huge boost to leveling speed.

Focus on getting the Nightblade line to lvl 20 and the inquisitor line to 10.
Focus on getting Nightblade to 15 asap so you can pick up lethal assault. It will be the main source of extra damage for you.
Blade burst will be your main attack. Ring of steel for extra aoe. Shadowstrike for mobility and burst. Word of pain will be mainly for procing twin fangs.

For devotions you will want to start with Bat, then take 4 points in Ghoul to pick up the proc.

Warden/level 20 skills Video: https://plays.tv/s/Lg_DGWSJ50JJ

Levels 20-40
Your next goal should be to work towards maxing Lethal assault, getting nights chill to 5or 6, and acquiring inquisitors seal. After getting 5 points in seal you will want to push straight for Aura of censure and Inquisitor 50. Pick up Steel Resolve and Arcane Empowerment along the way.

Once you get to spined cove in the foothills, I highly recommend farming some Spectral Battle Axes They have built in life leech, cold damage, and they will boost your ABB aoe. Ideally you’re looking for a prefix that grants physical converted to cold. You will want a Blessed Steel and a Coldstoneon your weapons.
For your relic Guile or Mistborn Talisman. If you are a newer player and lacking crafting resources, I would say Guile first. It is a required component to crafting Deathchill. (Which will be what you want to go for next. It is also need to be crafted at some point to work towards Ignaffar’s Combustion)
Devil’s Crossing, The Rovers, and Homestead all offer some nice gear for lvl 35, but at a fairly steep iron cost for early game.

Here’s a tip for new players you can farm some components by resetting the inventory’s of the hidden bloodgrove vendor/issac in homestead.

Next for devotions you will want to head for Quill and Rowan’s Crown. You will need a point in Ascendant crossroads until you finish out Crown, after that you can remove and place it elsewhere.

Here is the grimtools link for my character at level 35: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/d2jO5mrV

Level 40 gt: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/pZrrwG6Z

Levels 40-60
Goal for level 50 is to cap aura of censure, and get the Nightblade line to level 32.
Level 50 gt link : https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4VxdwjaV

Goal for level 60 is to max the Nightblade line, and pick up Execution/Nightfall
Level 60 gt link: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RZRn8w0Z

At level 50 the outcast reputation vendor offers a nice chest piece/ shoulder combo that fit out build well. You will want to find a Wendigo Eye for your medal slot. Use the Rover’s to augment your weapons and rings. Winter Bloom Powder and Arkovian Rose Powder. After level 50 you will want to do 2-4 runs of Steppes of Torment. Ideally you want to upgrade your weapons to a prefix that converts to cold (fire is good too) and a suffix that gives attack speed. Make sure to check the vendor!

After finishing Rhowans crown work on Fiend. Once you have it, switch Bat to blade burst, then bind Fiend to Word of pain. (although you will only do this until you manage to get a shard of beronath component) After fiend work on Viper, then any of these Toad/Scholars Light. Then you can go for Ulzuin’s torch as you get more devotion points. (Bind to Shadow strike)

If you have a Shard of Beronath bind Fiend to Beronath’s Fury and Bat to Word of Pain.

To be continued…

All offensive DW build that can clear crucible without 4,5 million DA and 6 boring Stalwart items? Good job, sir, watched your gameplay video, seems like a fun and powerful build.

Nice work, man. So funny Infiltrator is much more powerful then Saboteur for which Nex&Ortus set is made.

Another layer of passive RR/Inquisitor Seal/Heal and Deadly Aim are so much better for melee build than stuff that Demolitionist offers. Especially seal, when properly overcapped - becomes an extremely powerful defensive tool in Crucible.

I also couldn’t help but notice that in your grim tools you kinda missed the opportunity to use Tainted Heart in medal slot, imo, all around better than Attuned Lodestone for your build.

Awesome build.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one

My heart stopped a few times there. Nice, aggressive build.

I am willing to do more upon request. Although my play time has been somewhat limited lately due to work.

Thank you so much for this i’m big fan of DW mele heroes and was looking for build to play.
i’m brand new player doing campaign is it possible for you to do some leveling tips, what to go , then reset/gox build etc reputation to farm and the like, i will play solo and atm im level 13 and is the slowest clear of every hero i have tried so far.
There isn’t much info about DW early game everybody is like this is gear dependent etc etc

Good job, always been a fan of those weapons too and it’s nice to see a good build with them.
I’m surprised you can tank like that with those HP/DA values and relative lack of res overcap but it seems like the combo of relatively high armor, overcapped Seal and Dodge is enough to keep you alive for your massive leech to undo any damage taken almost instantly.

I only skimmed the video, but just wondering what happens if you get a harder 170 combo like 2x Reaper and another rusher type, is that doable too?
Not that it matters so much, if you can do 170 now then after the patch it should become even more reliable.

While the over cap resist and little bit of oa would be nice, I went Lodestone for the weapon damage proc to fit the theme of the build. It works quite nicely.

Unfortunately it is a bit of a slog early especially if you dont have other characters to supply crafting materials/items. DW is very gear dependant, especially going into Ultimate. I hope to do a bit of a write up for leveling sometime this weekend… But honestly once you get some skills points/devotions it shouldnt be too bad.

Reaper/Kuba/Grava combos can be very rough… with the wrong mutators it isnt possible. With banners and buffs you can burn through reaper or grava before an aether cluster wears off most of the time. Kuba takes awhile to kill due to not having any +%beast damage and bc he has a ton of cold resist.
The same goes or Fabius, even with +%human damage he dies slowly.

Tbh worst combo would probably be Val/Ben, Fabius, Reaper, Kuba, or double reap/kuba. Which even then is probably doable unless you have some nasty mutators. It would just come down to how quick you could neutralize the reaper. If the debuffs are getting the chances of you getting instagib’d goes up significantly.

Saboteur can work, but it requires more careful gameplay/watching blastshield. The damage overall is probably even better, but that is offset by the need to disengage.

Saboteur does work, I mean he has less damage with FS which should be much more powerful then Shard of Beronath.
Btw, tried your devotion, Fiend and Blind sage instead of Solael’s witchblade, Rumor and Leviathan, got dps increase, that is also odd.

The main problem is the huge skill point investment needed in firestrike to make it better than Beronath.

As to the devotions, fiend proc is strong especially with a build stacking flat damage such as this. Due to the fact we already have a significant amount of resist reduction, the extra damage from seekers and fiend seems to be more valuable. Even with using ABB to proc seekers, which is slightly sub optimal, x2 seekers do more dps than a leviathan proc.
Plus you get some added crit damage/ OA

Nice build idea - it is funny how suddenly only combos with Inquisitor are viable - that mastery is in a league of its own. I want to love my Sabo again but he is ridiculously overpowered by Inq + something combo.

Too bad Nightblade and Shaman suck so much. I would dare to say that even good ol Demo has fallen behind a lot. Arcanists overall suck for melee but compensate with Mirror *which needs proper timing to be utilised in full with TD.

Nowadays if you want to have a great build - go with Inquisitor - hopefully the buff to that mastery is a sign that similar treatment are in store for the above as well.

Imo, that proc weapon damage is doing absolutely nothing except supporting “theme of the build”. Having more oa and more aether overcap is crucial for pushing late Crucible Gladiator (especially versus Anasteria, that bitch is a threat to any char that doesn’t have like 60%+ aether overcap).

I’ve also noticed your armor augments are bit out of place too. You have one 12% bleeding augment and one 15% poison augment that you don’t need (overcapping those only helps against Manticore Deathstalker imo).

Glad someone else uses this set  Not much of a cruci player, but surprised to see it do so well in crucible! Well done sir

very nice build dude!

why dont take meteor shower?
just remove 1 point from blind sage (or revenant) and this one in blade of nadaan … and more fire … moooooore fire

1-no offense against build creator im newcomer to this game why is it noone puts what devotions they used or or skills form classes in there builds?

2-everyones builds on here is gear for new comers like me its confusing id like to know what devotions u used what skills u set to devtion and what skills how many points u put them etc.

3-can someone help me out to understand what devotions they used this build many others makes no sense?

The bleeding one I had changed to a Mankind’s Vigil, but it wasnt on that GT link. I will fix it. As to the poison one, it is necessary to cap the resist. Im only 8% overcap in game due to item rolls. Although another Kingsguard Powder might be better instead of the Venomguard.

The proc deals 2900 main weapon damage… with Hunger/Lifeleech oil I have 32% mainhand life leech. Even against nemesis’s that means im leeching ~140 life per mob hit(after factoring life leech resistance) it hits roughly every 2seconds. This is the main reason I went with it.

You definitely can feel free to do that, but that node in blind sage equals about 330 weapon damage given that cold is actually the lions share of our damage. Removing one from blindsage/revenant is about a 5000-6000 dps loss just on the dps tooltip (the real loss is larger due to proc damage loss) in addition you lose the racial damage to undead which helps take out certain nemesis bosses faster. (Moosi - high cold resist / Reaper - Just needs to die quick / Zantarin - Shotguns) The point in nadan can be dropped, but dodge/deflect is a large part of the builds survivability formula.

Binding it to Shadow strike works very well. I definitely run with it when Im playing in campaign. Fire and brimstone!
