Maybe you forgot to place the Wendigo totem? Or your resistance to fire or aether is not capped due to different item rolls? I don’t see any reason for Valaxteria to be that annoying.
The totem seems clunky as fuck, idk I barely see it doing anything. I did some testing with the totem, when I was low hp and just ran away from mob and placed the totem and it didnt work at all, my HP was not regenerating.
I got 1% over max Aether and 10 % over max fire resist without Ulo blessing (which I always use), so I was comfortably overcapped.
Do you know by any chance the composition of the wave 137? I would be rly curious to see the stats of the hero mob that spawns together with her cos looking at her stats at grimtools I dont see anything that could cause me those problems…
Ill do some more runs and see if it happens again
btw thanks very much for the help
Wendigo is not clunky if you have some experience of using it.
Don’t forget that Wendigo totem radiates the waves of healing only if the enemy is close to it. If you run away and place the totem, it would not work until some enemy steps into its radius.
Totem is intended to be a superpowerful healing ability (10%+1000 hp per second) but you must tank enemies to get heals.
Tested, proved it. Liked it.
I don’t see why is wendingo not working…

Alternativ setup from me.
My time wasn’t that good (around 12min), since i didn’t play much with light builds nowdays. I get to used to it.
I dropped jakal and the purple crossroad. Get the whole Rhowans crown. 18% Elem, 8 chaos res and 15% chaos, 180 hp from ultos hand.
I add ravager eye for the 6% def and hp, and attuned lodestone. (200 more def.)
Sacred plating instead of sanctified bone on helmet wich allows me to replace ancient armor plate on pants.
I am just curios about, why don’t u use attuned lodestone?
Hello mate.
Jackal + Dread Skull is better combo due to +11% (6+5) attack speed which translates into better clear times.
Ancient armor plate is better than ugdenbog leather in pants due to 8% bonus armor. Do not underestimate the power of armor in this game, 3k armor and 2.5k armor are different levels of survivability; I even replace the Runebound topaz with Bloodied crystal on certain builds to improve armor.
Sanctified bone is better due to easy 12% undead and chthonic racial damage bonus, which gets especially useful if you face double reaper or reaper+grava at once.
So, you got 200 DA to counterpart the lost % of armor, but the offensive potential of the build is the same or became lower
No offense, just explanation of my point.
Thx the explanation. And what about attuned loadstone? From dread skull 5% AS is better then 8% all dmg the proc and the 5% crit?
Yes, attack speed is better
Hey man,
I tried like 7 150-170 runs yesterday, never even made it to last wave:( I have honestly no idea what I am doing wrong, I just get surrounded and its over (simply the mobs do more damage than I can leech back). If I get surrounded and there is Aleks its basically over. If I kite, the mobs catch me, surround me and than 1 Aleks meteor and I am dead.
Since you can complete it without any problems with the same setup, its obvious that the problem isnt in the build, but rather it lies between the keyboard and chair…:o
Could you give me some tips how to survive? Which crucible is “safest” in your opinion? Where should I fight not to get surrounded? I watched your videos and you often step behind the spawn zone, but there is bad degen in that area, not sure I could survive this with multiple nemesis attacking me.
Hey!
It’s sad to hear that.
Here are some tips:
- I recommend to play in Crucible of Sands or Dead. Other maps are less comfortable for me personally, but I always test chars on random maps several times before recording “standard run” in Sands, Dead of Deep.
- Aleks meteors are annoying, but healers are more annoying - they can heal Aleks to full hp when you almost killed him. So, on wave 161 kill healers first, even if you are forced to jump into eldritch veil. Few seconds are enough to deal with them, and you need to do it hard and fast. These healers spawn in right top corner if you play in Crucible of the Dead, or in bottom left if you play in Sands. See on video.
- If you killed healers, try to stand under the ark, arks stop Aleks meteors permanently. In Crucible of the Dead you stand just near Eldritch veil, and in Sands there are 2 arks at the bottom of the map.
- Swarming trash mobs can be handled with wedge tactics. If mobs are swarming around you, make few steps in any direction to exit the enclave and kill nearest mobs. Mobs run to you, you make few steps more and kill the nearest mobs. Repeat till success. Mobs come in the form of the wedge and you deal only with 4-5 mobs at once. This tactic allows you to not being swarmed from all directions but only from one.
- Maybe this will be helpful too. Try to use my way of binding the keys: wheel up and wheel down are very comfortable keys to use. Wheel down places the Totem, wheel up summons Wind devil, and you need just to press 1 to cast Blitz and LMB/RMB to attack. Use dedicated key to drink heal potions, R by default iirc (see in preferences).
Hope this helps
Edit: if you want to go more defensive, replace the Weapon augment with Potent Ravager’s Eye and stack more DA generally.
You can even drop Spear/Dying God to take DA constellations (just don’t drop Ultos). Or craft the Avenger relic with DA craft bonus.
Anyway, 3700 DA nearly doubles your effective HP, so try that if you feel unsafe.
Thanks a lot for the tips:) I am already using Ravager Eye. With the auaras and Sealed fate I have 3400 DA, with Ulzuin buff I think its around 3500. Is this 3700 DA a specific number which doubles your effective HP (is there a big difference between 3500 and 3700)? If yes, what would be the least painful way (not to totally gimp DPS) to achieve this? Drop Revenant for Solemn Watcher? Or swap the Eye of the Storm for Avenger? (I guess it wouldnt be possible to hard cap Savagery/Primal Strike though). Maybe the problem partially lies in low armor (2300 without battlecry), but honestly no idea how to get more. Maybe Solemn Watcher + Obelisk, but I am afraid that my DPS will suffer a lot. Or I could use Glyph rings, massive damage and huge armor boost (got 2 rings with 14% armor total), but then my OA/DA will suffer badly:(
The difference between 3500 and 3700 is around ~14% chance to miss, so you can decide to take it or not.
As for armor and survivability in general: you seek for particular recipe of success, but there’ no such recipes. Armor, ADCtH, DA - you can use all of them and try to combine them to improve your survivability. Keep trying
Hey there,
thx again for the tips, it helped a lot. I tried Stalwart Kymons Badge of Readiness to cap the DA (got over 3.7 K with all buffs) and finally managed to complete it once lol
Aleks is a joke once you standing under an arch, but particularly the 169 wave is pretty nasty (a lot of spike damage). 160 and 170 waves are hard/easy depending on composition (dual Rapist + Grava is no joke).
I was still dying a lot and I got an idea to try this same exact setup but with inquisitor just to see how would it work. I am actually pretty surprised, it performed very similarly in terms of damage and with the seal I would say it even feels tankier despite having lower DA and armor.
here is the link for the build I used https://www.grimtools.com/calc/eVL55G6Z
With deadly aim I have 4K OA and with the DG the crits are insane. I was basically standing on the edge of the spawn zone all the time, seal on the ground and wendigo totem, was able to tank everything and completed 150-170 twice in a row xD
What do you think about this vindicator setup? I think ranged build would prolly benefit from inquisitor mastery even more due to all those wps (like this one http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75089), but even this melee ultos version doesnt seems bad.
Inquisitor is a supreme mastery nowadays, the Inquisitor Seal does good job in saving your life.
I’m not surprised at all.
Well done!
I would like to try this build. Can you suggest me a leveling guide, especially for devotion?
Hi!
There’s no special leveling guide.
Here are some leveling tips for you:
- Equip any 2H lightning weapon, max Savagery and its transmuter, max Feral Hunger and Upheaval; or, if you prefer more easy way, take Primal Strike with transmuter and passives.
- Get Wind Devil and max Raging Tempest;
- Rush into Stormcaller’s Pact;
- Get Storm Touched to 7/12;
- Get Soldier and rush into Squad Tactics, then max Field Command.
- As for devotions, take Kraken, Widow, Rhowan’s Crown ASAP.
Thanks a lot! I will be following this
Hi Veretragna,
I’m following your build too, but how can you get 8 points of Chaos before the Dying God and Revenant? I have only 7 Points of chaos for now.
Thank you
Hi, put 1 point to crossroads, complete Revenant constellation and then you can respec the crossroad point.
Thanks Aerinqq
Update.
Thanks to Артур Петров for his advice to try Primal Strike.
It outperforms Savagery for great margin.
Now this build makes 8 minute runs with no sweat.
