I’m almost finished leveling this build (level 97 atm), so I wanted to offer some of my experiences and insight.
I leveled a reaper with Superfluff’s wraith being my goal, and I used mad_lee’s cold leveling suggestion, but this time, I wanted to try something new, so I leveled this one going mostly by the build guide, and focused on pierce and used troll’s rage. It turned out to be a lot of fun, and I melted things just as quickly as I did with a cold NB build. I had a little bit of a stumble towards the end of elite, so I would recommend if you follow the guide, pick up the Ghoul devotion around level 60ish. Also had a little bit of resist issues around the same time, so I slapped a purified salt into one of my weapons, and that solved it. If you do level with pierce, try to get a good pair of demptaran slicers or servitor slicers; I picked up both of mine in elite, and they took me all the way to 94.
Once you hit 94 and switch to the end game gear…holy *#@! everything dies in 1-2 hits. Belgo strikes is seriously OP. Great and fun build; I haven’t died to any monsters, just to stupid green aether crap on the ground…I hate that stuff, I have the WORST luck with it.
My only major gripe about this build is the run speed, so you’ll be hitting PB and WoR on CD.
It’s really sometimes not even fun in Campaign because nothing can challenge it except Grava (he is trully a bane of melee chars) where you gotta play careful. Against everything else you just yolo your way thru.
Running speed is capped as long as you are keeping WoR and PB refreshed. I wish I could squeeze in damn Mark of a Traveller into boot slot but it’s so freaking hard to get around those Ugdenbog Leathers on this builds. And Slow Resist is an achiless heel of this build.
When I play the exact same build in Crucible I normally die almost instantly when I step out of Inquisitor Seal or stand in AoE for more than half a second. In 15 tries I made it to wave 100 only once and normally died at 70.Where is the forgivingness and relaxing you are talking about?
Are you fully geared? The ease that mad_lee talks about is mostly referring to fully-geared chars. Also, familiarity is one big factor on how easy a build is. If you die when stepping out of seak then don’t step out. If you need to the shadow strike out then cast seal. Keep in mind that ‘easy’ also depends on player skill, and while mad_lee constantly tells himself that he’s a bad pilot, he’s still surely better than your average newbee.
Hey, man, happy to help here. But without you giving a grimtools link of your current build I can’t say if your deaths are due to incorrect gearing or devotions or components/augments despite you claiming you are playing “exact same build”. So please provide a Grimtools link.
Dying before wave 100 is something that this build never does. Only problem it has when running with no buffs (and I assume you were running buffless) before wave 150 is when facing Anasteria at wave 137 or facing Zantarin. With Anasteria I recommend popping Aetherward Oil and chopping her down as fast as possible. With Zantarin, just wait for his big shotgun and then charge him. When in melee range with Zantarin - watch your hp, as soon as it goes down by more than a quarter, pop one of your two healing spells.
That’s it. 100-150 without buffs can be challenging sometimes, gotta focus and position properly. I would say it’s harder than 150-170 with 4 buffs. Also, Sir Spanksalot did a run for me and recorded a video, which is in the op. You can watch it and see for yourself that he is just facetanking from start to finish there with little care, just good positioning.

I GDStashed the greens btw
Edit: the waves after 100 are easier or maybe I just got better at piloting it. Thanks for the advice!
So you GDstashed my exact setup and had trouble pre wave 100? That’s very weird, man. You were doing something wrong probably, although I can’t imagine what, build is very simple really.
i’m L50 nightblade with 45 spare skill points to play with, having fun wrecking normal, with pierce/wps/trolls rage. Those derpmateam slicers are amazing! I’m just unsure If i should go with infiltrator or blademaster. I feel like with my gear, BM would be more forgiving though I love aura of conviction but I kind of hate Seal. Also While losing the -25% pierce resist isn’t great, its one less button to press/cast. Soldier has some solid defensive buffs for the weaker geared. Slow/Stun resist etc… 15% less phy resist though and you have to use cadence every little while to get back the lost flat damage boost.
I skipped Assassin can blades of wrath shotgun? I have very little stun/slow resist with my end gear. Was thinking swapping it out for eel/obelisk 5/7 and empty throne instead of wolverine. Also thinking of harp instead of panther/hawk? but dat Crit damage… >.<
I’ve said my piece on this build, but I wanted to add that I straight facetanked MQ at level 97, and she was down in ~10 seconds with this build. I didn’t time it exactly, but she was dead before my seal expired, and seal lasts 12 seconds, so ymmv.
I’m just addressing this to whoever feels like answering. So…
Subjectively speaking, what do you think would be the most powerful DW in the game? This or Korba Trickster? Or maybe still the good ol’ Blademaster with his superior burst dmg or some implementation of Cadence?
As i only have 2 pieces of Belgothian set, and now at L70 should i stick with trolls rage which is still significant and allows me a reliable proc or switch too belgothian L70 relic? Also for weapons is Redeemer of Malmouth x2 doable? I don’t have the builds weapons yet, or i could stick with dermatitis slicers as they’re easier to farm puncturing of alacrity. Also they allow full pierce with only 100% armor piercing from devotion.
Its been really fun finally leveling a full blown pierce nightblade. I went with infiltrator in the end but i kind of wish i went blademaster as i’ve also never used markovian’s advantage on a character yet. Oh well all good.
I never played Korba trickster but on paper Belgothian Infiltrator is the most well-rounded one and in that sense most powerful. Few things help it: Inquisitor mastery, great set with a very powerful auto-attack, huge pierce synergy between two masteries, pierce damage being lowkey op because of recent nerf to monsters’ pierce resist. Korba got bigger burst but is way squishier because it has shaman instead of inquisitor.
Whatever works for you, man, depending on your current items. I never used troll rage so can’t say. If you have good slicers, use them. Two malmouth swords will work but conversion will suffer.
Inq fans might argue infil is the best but imo you don’t need seal if you just vaporize everything with 1m dmg ros every 1.5seconds. BM = infil but infil is easier if you’re not experienced. Just put the equals there so we won’t see another debate. Malkadarr has highest dps but it’s paper so it’s really hard to pilot it on cruci.
For campaign non superboss Malkadarr > belgo > Ros korb
Here malkadarr squishiness isn’t so significant cause noone gangbangs you with mutators. Also RoS aoe advantage isn’t as big as in cruci.
For ravager I’ve only seen belgo infil so that’s probably the best.
Superfluff’s Reaper is incredibly powerful and hard to kill as well. Might require a few too many button presses for some, but I think it’s a blast to play, and I think it can compete, imho.
Dropping by just to say that I’ve used this build in sc in full gear, fun and effective as hell. but I’m also using it as an inspiratiom in HC with self found gear and it’s working like a charm. Great job man!
If you don’t have similiar greens that I have, use the link that has no green items in it. I think you should let go of Bladetwister ("-resist one") when you are playing no greens setup, it’s actually a sucky ring statwise and I am only using it in my green items setup because I can compensate for it’s sucky stats with sick greens that I was lucky to find/trade.
Yeah I’m using the other two rings. L98, currently farming for another slicer. here’s me so far. Few small changes, i don’t have half the items for the build so i compensated with what I have. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/JVllz4oV
Yeah i gotta do some ugdenbloom farming, and i know few things aren’t right with components, skills need some moving around. Without Belgothian’s Strikes or any default attack replacer I’m finding the damage to be below my Storm 2H Warder, particularly AoE. But kinda solid on the defense, even with far less health.
I would like some more OA/Damage when i can get it. I haven’t got close to dying yet though which is cool.
Regarding the ring i was interesting in the -elemental to pierce conversion as I don’t have the helm and execution does cold damage, as well as the extra from arcane empowerment. The 10% less resist is also quite nice. But giving up all that flat pierce and OA!
