GrimTools: Tactician, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

I wanted to make a Tank build for my ‘Fantasy MMO Team’, something that could be comfortably played solo, but would also offer unique benefits when played in multiplayer. And so here it is! Guardian!!

Guardian is an incredibly tanky Tactician, who provides incredible powers of stubbornness to the entire team. I wanted to make a build that could provide a complete range of different types of damage mitigation for the team, and Guardian provides these:

  • 31% Damage Reduction to Enemies (War Cry)
  • 24% Armour (Field Command)
  • 764 Flat Damage Absorption (Inquisitor Seal, Stone Form)
  • 20% Damage Absorption (Menhir’s Bastion)
  • 11% Physical Resistance (Aura of Conviction)
  • 175 Defensive Ability (Word of Renewal, Field Command)
  • 1000 HP, 100 Armour, Freeze/Petrify/Entrapment Resists (Vigor)
  • 58% Burn Reduction (Aura of Conviction)
  • 50% Bleed and Poison reduction (Stone Form)

Needless to say, when Guardian is nearby, your build - whatever it is - will feel significantly tankier in his presence. On top of that, War Cry has a reduced cooldown, allowing Guardian to draw aggro away from the team intermittently, and disrupt enemy skills for up to 8.5 seconds (take that, healers and Moosilauke’s ice crystals!)

Tankiness

Guardian obviously benefits from all of the buffs above, but also boasts a comfy 44% physical resistance, 18k hp and 4000 armour, Overguard for an additional 115 damage absorption, and a 51% chance to block melee attacks. Guardian’s self healing comes from a number of sources:

  • 11% lifesteal
  • ~773 regen
  • Dryad’s Blessing
  • Small intermittent heals from Word of Renewal, Menhir’s Bastion, Warborn set proc
  • Maul (45% of attack damage converted to health for all enemies it hits)
  • Living Shadow x3. Guardian’s gloves give a pierce to phys damage conversion to Aura of Censure, converting all of Living Shadow’s piercing attacks into physical attacks that heal Guardian as they deal damage.

Other Team Benefits

  • +296 OA
  • +10% Total Speed
  • +15% Attack/Cast Speed
  • +12% Movement Speed
  • +374% all damage (and about 594% phys damage or ~430% elemental damage) boost

Damage

Damage is ok, but not mindblowing. Cadence crits for up to 500k damage, and in bigger fights you’ll have a tonne of Targo’s Hammers swirling around you for additional damage, along with the Living Shadows and constant Maul procs. It’s not too sluggish, but not a sports car either. This build is a marathon runner, not a sprinter, but when it comes to running marathons, it is second to none. The warrior’s determination is strong :wink:

I believe the build can defeat Callagadra, but I’m too lazy to fight her again, so here’s a video of me getting her down to 1/5 hp before I have a combination of a concentration lapse and some bad RNG. :smiley:
