1.2.1.2 Virulence - Poison Shadow strike dervish - 2 setups - 1.4 million DoT damage [SR 80]

This is another one of my attempts at making DoT-focused builds, specifically seeking the one-punch to rule them all.

I’ve toyed with Shadow strike before in this regard (as the derailment of the conversation in @Crab_Turtle_2112’s Forcewave build thread shows) But didn’t get satisfactory results at first, which prompted me to try the same thing with Aegis of Menhir.

This time, however, I managed to cram even more poison damage into a single hit than even that build. I tried 2 different approaches, and both worked well, so I figured I would showcase both of them.

BTW, this is just that: a showcase, not a build guide.

Option 1: Nightshade’s Reach

This one is more balanced, capable of landing Shadow strike every 1.1 seconds. It even has decent mob clearing ability through a mix of Abomination, Nightfall and the pets auras. It’s actually quite fun to play. Gets 900k to 1 million DoT damage on the dummy.

Single-target damage is enough to kill the dummie or any nemesis in a single blow (Maybe 2 if you’re unlucky with crits)

Option 2: Dunefiend set

This next one leverages a much bigger “total damage modified by” bonus and manages to get the same kinds of number despite having lower flat poison damage. (getting over 1300% WD really helps)
This one has the biggest DoT of the 2, getting 1 to 1.4 Million DoT.

However, it’s more awkward to play: Shadow strike is on a 2.2 second delay, and Nightfall is significantly weaker, meaning mobs are a bit longer to clean out.

Both builds are pretty much glass canons, so unless you really know what you’re doing, I wouldn’t recommend them. If you feel like trying them out, I would recommend the first one.

Is this better than my AoM build ? Yes and no.
The Nightshade setup has comparable DoT, but has a bit more health and its main skill on a much shorter cooldown. It also has much better crowd cleaning. However, AoM hits multiple targets with that massive DoT, while Shadow Strike only hits one. Against bosses, this doesn’t matter much, but against a pack of starred enemies, AoM does a much better job. AoM also has the advantage of hitting from a distance…

That’s it!

If you have any question, constructive criticism, regular criticism… I’m all ears

You don’t need Kraken on Dunefiend setup, believe the whole map needs rethinking.
Taking Basilisk Mark will let you know hardcap Nidalla’s Justifiable Ends for -1.8 s to Shadow Strike and you can still get Path of The Three at 21/12 for 15% CDR and put 1 point at least to Dual Blades for 4% phys res.
i would take Mythical Slithscale Legwraps and sacrificed Merciless Repertoire (keep it at 20/12) and put those points elsewhere.

[1.1.9.4] Acid SS Dunefiend Witch Hunter. SR 90/Ravager of Minds/Crate of Entertainment - Grim Dawn / Classes, Skills and Builds - Crate Entertainment Forum

[1.2.0.1] Assassin - Update: 5.8m crits - Big Shadow Striker - SR 76, Cr 170 - Grim Dawn / Classes, Skills and Builds - Crate Entertainment Forum

this is how it was done before, but with more focus on acid damage than poison (as you do here on Nightshade Reach setup with Dervish).

I guess I posted the wrong link then. I have the devotion map of the other build in this one… And I’m also missing that point in Dual Blade…
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll edit it

As for this part, Nidalla’s JE is great, but the flat poison damage from Path of the 3 and Merciless Repertoire add way more damage, so sacrificing it means smaller DoT.
